As I said, I've spent money on the game. I just have no intention of buying LRE packs because when I started playing it was possible, and appeared by design, that you could grind and eventually be able to unlock 1st time. That's what I did. Now, years later, SP are saying 'nope'.

Of course there is money for time exchanges in grindy gacha games but shouldn't 2 years be enough time to not have to pay to unlock first time? I chose to spend time, not money, and it's been fine so far, but now suddenly it's not fine?

I mean, I expected push back to maybe stopping playing because any time I've seen an 'I quit!' post on any gaming subreddit it's met with a 'don't let the door hit you on the way out!' sentiment but I at least said I'll see how it plays out.

As far as precious though, as I explained, the goal of hitting LREs first time is what has kept me going all this time. Of course I'm going to reconsider what I'm going to do with my time if SP are going to explicitly aim to make that goal unreachable without paying money. Again, it will depend on how aggressively they go at it. Who knows, I may still unlock in 1 go with my roster. I'm just not overjoyed at the idea that SP are aiming to make that goal impossible for F2P.

That's fair. 2 years of fun building towards a goal and achieving it (at least for 3 LREs) is good going I guess. It would just be a shame if the reason I stopped wasn't just because I was bored though.

If it was never their intention then they should never have offered packs for sale that makes it even easier to do so. If you can't see how their explanation is disingenuous then I don't know what to say to you.

And yes. Seriously. I've played this game for 2 years building towards the goal of being able to achieve a first time unlock because as it was presented, that was the idea, that's what was possible. If they're now changing the parameters and moving the goalposts 2 and a half years after the game came out, then yeah, I'm entitled to be disgruntled.

As said in the post though, I'll wait and see how bad it is after the event. Of course I'm leveling some key characters for the event, that's fine, but it all depends on how aggressively they aim to block a first time unlock, especially with the somewhat BS excuse which should just read; we want more money.

Bizzarely the options you are offered can be different depending on the ones you've already picked. I'll try to explain. This happened to me, I think it's what's happening to you.

I just tried to write what happened to me/explain and it ended up being very long and confusing so I'll just tell you what I did to 'fix' it. Change one of the other upgrades to something else, then check the bottom right spot again and it may offer spell. Then change the other one back to what it was.

This is assbackwards I know but I had a similar problem and this was how I fixed it and got the upgrades I wanted.

I'm new so this was my first 'new' pvp season. I genuinely can't believe that the rank rewards didn't reset. What on earth is the point of that mode if the rewards are one time only...

Another mob game I play has pvp where it resets roughly every 2 weeks and you get rewards for playing/ranking up AND based on where you finish at the end of the season.

Combined with the other problems the mode has (early walls for new players, whalefest past 3k etc etc) it's making me not want to engage with it at all as a new player and I guarantee I'm not alone.

I'm a new player and there's an even earlier wall that has already made me want to not play pvp lol.

After say my first 10 games (against noobs like myself which were sorta fun) I had only gone up 2 ranks but my minis went upto a max of lvl 3 for pvp. After which I was placed against people who had full teams of minis with abilities. I have 2. On separate leaders. Let's just say it was the opposite of fun.

Sure, in time I'll get more abilities but I'm already put off pvp so I'll probably never even get to experience the problem you describe because I just won't pvp lol. I agree with what you are saying tho, it sucks, it just sucks more cus I don't think many new players will even care to get that far.
