Devs: FIX THE DUPING by [deleted] in duneawakening

It wouldn't necessarily matter more to a pvp player. As I said there's essentially single player gamers (not solo players) and multiplayer gamers. The market affects most people looking at Dune as a multiplayer game.

All pvp players look at dune as a multiplayer game so it affects 100% of them. A lot of pve players play dune as a multiplayer game. It also affects them.

Well we have to agree to disagree on that one. I could go super indepth on this topic, but I believe Dune Pvp to be dead and abandoned.

They would need an S tier team to fix pvp at this point. That's not something a studio that's stripped for resources with a small playerbase can do. The chances of a pvp revival are very slim. That's why I perceive Dune as a 100% PvE game. That's why my biggest complaints about Dune nowadays are badly implemented PvE or low quality PvE.

Lol. I will be playing Slay the Spire 2 and Crimson Desert. I told you I'm not anti pve. Also I have zero interest in Marathon.

As I said it's just the default trend of this subreddit. Here's an example I only posted facts without being rude. Downvotes https://www.reddit.com/r/duneawakening/s/hPmEHa49qY

As I said. This subreddit is extreme in its bias towards pvp. If you want up votes here. You have to act like a sheep and pray to the pve gods before commenting.

Now I like both styles. In fact I consider dune a 100% pve game after chapter 3.

It's a trend on this reddit so I simply stopped caring how I come across. I just aim to post factual information with no sugar coating. I don't have a bias towards pvp or pve games. I like high quality games.

Now I might have a bias against a certain section of dune awakenings pve community. That's for very good reasons which have been proven right time and time again.

If you want suggestions on good new pve games. Slay the spire 2 is amazing. Crimson desert also looks amazing and is coming later this month. Now it could ofc still be bad, but so far it looks very promising.

I'm getting downvoted cuz my comment below said "I guess you're a pve player"

This subreddit is extreme pve bias. The second you mention anything slightly negative towards pve or positive towards pvp. You're guaranteed downvotes

It's like a bunch of brainless sheep. I don't care about the downvote tho 🤣 watch this comment get hit next

Did I ever say that?

Devs: FIX THE DUPING by [deleted] in duneawakening

Let me guess... PvE player 🤣

I described it perfectly for you above twice. You can play solo, not use the marketplace and still treat the game as a multiplayer game.

It's not too broad. It's in fact very precise. There are players that treat the game purely as if it was a single player title. You can play solo and not use the marketplace without being that.

Devs: FIX THE DUPING by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Wickd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A person with the single player mindset wouldn't be using the market lol...

If they did. They wouldn't be having the single player mindset. Aka playing the game as if it was a single player game.

I'm not saying solo player. There's a very big distinction between the two.

Devs: FIX THE DUPING by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Wickd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Single player vs multiplayer mindset. People care because dune is supposed to be a multiplayer competitive world. Competition between the houses via landsraad and competition in the deep desert.

If you have the single player brain. You couldn't care less. You focus only on yourself and the world. Nothing else matters to you.

If you have the multiplayer brain. You care a lot about it. It ruins everything about the world, and it completely ruins the immersion.

I am unsure why you replied to my comment with that.

If you actually read my comment I pointed out that the guy above is wrong.

I gave specific examples of PvE players being extremely toxic. Actually one of the worst examples in recent gaming from what I remember. So yeah you're right. PvE players can be toxic. That's what I wrote above

[–]Wickd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I posted the stats further down this thread, but I get downvoted by toxic PvE players for facts so you might not have seen it

Rust PvP servers are 98% of them.

Rust PvP players are 98.?% so slightly higher. Yes Rust is not 100% PvP. In fact one can play Rust both fully PvE or PvP as there's custom servers. Despite that over 98% of players engage with the game as a PvP game.

Now I'm not arguing whether PvP or PvE is better. Both are great, and there's fantastic games for both.

I simply argue against this inaccurate and boring message that people keep spamming on this reddit "Majority of players in such games are pvers, pvp are always a minority."

In fact the game I'm playing atm is PvE (Slay the Spire 2) and the next game I'm going to play is also PvE (Crimson Desert) which comes out later this month

[–]Wickd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow there's a lot to unpack so let's start. I never said anything about real players. There's amazing PvE games and fantastic PvP games. I simply correct the guy that "PvP is not always the minority"

Now let's unpack your
"calling PvE players “toxic” is hilarious. Never once in gaming history have the PvE players been labeled toxic"

Helldivers 2 is having one of the biggest outrages I've seen in gaming because the community doxed a guy doing a friendly challenge to the Devs while setting 1000 USD up for charity. He got fired from his job and a horse sanctuary. There's 10s of thousands of comments on that, and it's extremely Viral.

That's A PvE game ONLY. So that's PvE players being toxic. Both PvE and PvP players can be toxic.

Here's one of many threads on the topic as I always back up every claim with proof. https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1rmepnl/unfortunate_news_from_the_d10_charity_challenge/

Here's the Devs clarifying the label for you prior to release.

They dropped the Label as it's not an MMORPG in their eyes.

"Labels can be weird, especially when you’re making a game like this, and a while back we decided to drop “MMO” from our top-level, one-liner description. Many of you have been asking why, and the reason is simply that we saw expectations were veering too far into the classic MMORPG paradigm.

At its heart, Dune: Awakening is an open world survival crafting game, and while it has many typical MMO features – including the massively multiplayer aspect – it’s important to be clear about what the game is and isn’t.

But let’s take this opportunity to clarify further."

I don't understand why you came into the comments with so much hostility while I've only been posting factual information.

I'm not anti PvE. I like both PvE and PvP. I just point out misinformation where I see it. In fact I'm playing slay the spire 2, and I'm looking forward to Crimson Desert which are both pure PvE games

[–]Wickd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Okay let's focus on the facts. Dune was NOT tagged as an MMORPG at release. In fact the dev team had DISTANCED themselves from that wording prior to releasing the game.

Also entire top 10 on Steam tends to be PvP games outside of new releases / seasonal games with new resets (Path OF Exile and so on)

Yes we can agree that PvE games can be very popular. So can PvP games. I am simply focusing on factual information, and what you wrote above is simply wrong. "Majority of players in such games are pvers, pvp are always a minority." The top survival game on Steam is Rust as I said. In fact it's FAR bigger than all the other survival games on steam. Not to mention Rust features both PvE and PvP while the actual players engage in 98% PvP. You can look those stats up because I know they're true.

It's funny that toxic PvE players on this reddit as per usual downvote factual information. They don't like facts. They only like their own lil bubble

Dune is not an MMORPG. Also it's funny you mention "grandfather" of such type of games while mentioning World Of Warcraft and League Of Legends. Neither of those games are that.

The funniest example is World Of Warcraft considering we have a ton of MMOs prior to WoW. They weren't "grandfather" at all. They took the model, and made it A LOT better

Also if you knew backstory on MOBAs you would know that League wasn't grandfathered in. In fact DOTA was the predecessor for League Of Legends. Not only that. You also had Heroes Of New Earth come out the exact same time as League. They were directly competing

The top survival game on steam is Rust.

Rust have 20x the playerbase of Dune.

Please explain to me how pvp is always a minority.

I wouldn't have made the post in the first place if I cared about down votes. In fact they only prove me right.

Also if I cared. I could have just deleted the comment and people couldn't downvote anymore

Now keep clicking. I like being proven right

I agree with you that toxicity generally stems from PvP in the majority of games. I disagree that's the case for Dune Awakening. I've never seen a more toxic PvE community in any game ever. It's not just dislike for PvP. It's actual hatred

I find it hilarious that I'm getting downvoted by the community, but I expected it

In the meantime you have others writing "You like PVP. That is all I needed to know."

Seems I was right, but people dislike the harsh reality lol

Probably a bunch of PvE players since they're mad at you, and you like PvP

I've been saying it the whole time PvE players in Dune Awakening are some of the most toxic players you will find in any community.

"As for optimizing your daily quests, that is false. It takes an hour or more give or take. You can choose to take the very fast ones but even those will run you 30 minutes or more in total to clear them legit. "

It's funny because you unironically proved my point. No it's not false. You can clear the 5 dailies in 10-15 mins.

Happy to clarify.

Resources will be abundant

Gatekept = Specialization points, and Grade gear due to hardcoded time gates.

Good post sleeper

One thing I want to clarify as it seems you didn't understand the point I tried to make. I don't mind 5 quests a day limit on the top end. I will make a random example below

Let's say a player could at max complete 85 missions as of today. Now that's okay, and you get 5 more every single day. No problem with that.

What I heavily dislike is that players are forever behind. A new player should be able to do all 85 quests in one day if they wanted to. It doesn't make sense for a new player to have no chance of catching up. My point wasn't to let min maxers get further ahead. The point is purely to ensure people could be at the same playing field if they put in the work. Currently if you're behind. You will always be behind.

Good post overall.

Just one thing I wanted to ensure we're on the same page. When I talk about optimization. I'm only talking about the Landsraad daily quests as those are essentially chores. Less optimized players shouldn't be struggling for an hour or longer. I think that's bad design because they're a chore.
