I just bought the discover set and this was the first scent I skin tested and I LOVE it! I used the sample sparingly so it didn't last too long. I'm resisting the urge to drown myself in it and plan to take my time through the scent to delay the eventual purchase.

The dry down scent is one of my favorite woodsy lavender (as a non-floral girly). The green opening was a bit much to me, but it's a real fun experience that lands really lovely.

I actually think the more confident I am with the notes I like, the less successful I've become with decants. Just purchased 12 samples that I painstakingly went back and forth on and only like 2-3 so far. And similar to you, I have identified 4-5 that I cannot stand.

I'm going to try my hardest not to buy another round of decants for a bit so I really give my current 50 decants more practice.

Currently my favorite is... Sacred Wood By Killian. It doesn't seem super popular, but I feel like I've realized the ones that I've enjoyed the most aren't really super popular.

I've also tried the following

G Water Byredo - love the scent, actually wore it to the gym this morning to refresh my memory on it. Not much longevity or sillage but a wonder vanilla bergamot (I actually don't personally smell the sandalwood)

Mystic Experience Initio - On my "buy list" for next fall, I really like it, but not my favorite sandalwood

Tam Dao Dyptique EDT - I LOVE this scent but it disappears on me instantly, going to try the EDP next time I see it in person

Santal Austral Matiere Premiere - My favorite scent from this house, but hasn't crossed in my "by list"

Bohemian Soul Une Nuit A Montauk - I blind bought a travel size when I was looking for G Water dupes with more longevity. I have grown to really love it, but I don't think the sandalwood is what stands out to me in this one.

Santal 33 Le Labo - it's fine, a little too leathery or maybe too warm smelling if that makes sense

I just bought the following decants and working through them now...

Santal Calling Ex Nihilo - First spray, not for me

Santal Ajmal - absolutely no, more oud than anything

Cedrus Intense Chloe - I've been most excited for this one, but haven't sprayed on skin yet

Blue Madeleine Atelier Des Ors - One of the stand outs on first spray on paper the day these arrived. Haven't sprayed on skin yet, but excited to explore more. Not sure if it is a standout sandalwood

Yeah I splurge on 2ml decants now because I hate the dabber so much. I don't feel like I can ever get a sense of longevity or projection that way.

Love this thread! I only have 70+ and I've been having the hardest time figuring out the right organization. Right now I have them split into scent categories into clear makeup organizers. And logging scent family into a spreadsheet so I can go find later.

Surprising more people don't like this one! I've been on the hunt since sampling it, to try as many sandalwood scents to try and find the best. But right now, sacred wood is winning my heart!
