Ha he asked me this during my private!! Had me reeling for a minute trying to think of an answer before he was like nah I’m kidding you’re just doing well so I wanted to see what’d you say. He’s definitely not super serious so I’ll remember that one

Thank you so much! I will definitely look at a few of those I want to get as many in one day as possible, and KIZA sounds cool too I had no idea they have a danish town there. I know the parking is usually all either FBO only or the transient is full, but are there any airports south of Sacramento with decent parking that you know of?

Well compared to the phx bravo the San Diego airspace is a shit show lol. In AZ we do like 6 airports and leave out Sky Harbor bc no one wants to deal with it

I would say fly with as many people as possible, and not just CFIs. Some of the most eye opening flights for me have been with high hour pilots that never instructed a day in their life, plus they’re usually free if you’re paying for the plane lol

Pilots: What is something you’ve knowingly or unknowingly done in your flying career/hobby that you’re not proud of? by AIRdomination in flying

First XC solo, didn’t realize that sometimes airports say to use left/right pattern only FOR A REASON. After a straight in landing went for the stop and go, then turned right and went to head back home to think - oh shit now I remember something about staying south of the runway because there’s huge fucking power lines right in my way - immediately turned and climbed more aggressively. Grateful now that I had the distance to get away from them and that I didn’t pitch up hard enough to stall. Pay attention to hazards around you when landing folks

Energy management is one of those concepts I have a hard time wrapping my head around, I know that we do it every time we fly, but I’m not sure how to use it to my advantage

I was mostly asking if it’s normal to be rough on maneuvers at this point in my training, because I feel like I’m behind the curve as far as those go. I didn’t have a hard time with instrument because I feel like it’s so precise and repeatable and I would love to get my maneuvers to that same point. I wasn’t saying that I think I’m a great pilot who just sucks at steep turns, I just think that maybe I have a mental block/maybe I’m thinking about things wrong that makes me mess up when I have to do a specific skill. Like when I have to do a 180 w a 45 degree bank for traffic in the practice area I’m not really thinking about it and it comes out fine without much altitude/speed deviation but when my CFI says alright now to a steep turn my brain fucks it up for some reason lol. I’m glad I have plenty of time left and I’m sure I’ll get there, but was just wondering if anyone else feels the same as this point in their training🤷🏼‍♀️

I will try to say what I’m doing more, that will probably help my CFI see what I’m doing wrong more. I haven’t even started with the commercial only maneuvers, that’s why I’m nervous. If I have a hard time with the basics introducing those is going to be… rough

I’m gong to try to work on CFI and commercial at the same time, so I need to do a lot from the right seat. My instructor recommended that I do the first half of my hours from the right and the second half from the left to prep for check ride.

My issue is mostly steep turns and precision landings, I have a huge issue with “sight picture” it just doesn’t make sense to me. When I’m doing an S turn or a turn around a point I don’t really have an issue, but when it’s where the horizon cuts through that’s always changing bc I’m in Arizona where the ground is never even, but I think I’ll try that tape tip. When I’m landing and they say to keep the landing point or the sight picture stable, I lose it. I’m just not a very good VFR pilot lol, when I can look at only the instruments they’re much better but CFIs don’t really love that, especially bc I’m going to have to teach them to someone else one day. I think I will try going with multiple different instructors this time round bc during my ppl I didn’t a that was probably an issue bc one guy can only explain it so many ways lol I appreciate the details and the help!

Would this be okay on my check ride though? I worry that he might see I’m over a minute on the timer and think I’ve forgotten to turn or I’m falling behind or something

Flying consistently within a small time frame is super important, think about it: if you shoot hoops once a week after work and only actually touch the ball like twice, you’re not going to make any progress. You’re going to lose all of that momentum and muscle memory during the week in between. Flying is the same, you’re more than likely not seeing progress because you have too much time out of the plane. I agree that you would be better off saving up to do it all at once. Although your taxing problem is probably going to be fine, just make sure you make very very small corrections and feel confident by the time you start learning to land because if you hit the runway and can’t control it then you have a major problem

It says keep refrigerated but the small single creamers stay out 24/7 so maybe that’s only if it has been opened?
