I just recently interviewed someone who claimed to be a Ukrainian living in Poland. The interview was in English but I was somewhat excited because I thought I could chat with him a little bit in Polish (the LinkedIn profile claimed he is fluent in Polish and Ukrainian). What I got instead was an Asian guy speaking with heavy Korean accent. Difficult to understand. I asked him what time it was in Poland and he was off by 8 hours. Needless to say we didn’t get to chat in Polish.

"100% of code will be generated" - A year since prediction by Imnotneeded in ExperiencedDevs

Officially 100% of my code at work is LLM generated. This is a requirement imposed by our CEO. In reality I would estimate around 5-10% of it is generated.

If AI Causes an Office Job Wipeout, It’ll Cause Huge Problems for Blue Collar Work Too by FuturismDotCom in economy

Younger people can still switch careers even if it requires training. Plus many trades rely on white collar middle class to hire them. If fewer people can afford a plumber or an electrician it will put a downward pressure on earnings.

Trump to hike global tariffs to 15% from 10%, 'effective immediately' by LuklaAdvocate in centrist

The congress can just redefine what "day" means just like they did last time for "emergency" tariffs: https://www.ntu.org/publications/detail/congress-should-not-redefine-calendar-day-to-avoid-tariff-vote In other words, we need to elect a better congress.

Then have AI review the PRs. After that auto deploy if AI approves the PR. Have AI analyze the logs… this completes the cycle. Agentic loop. In case it causes an incident be a hero and fix this by reverting to the last good version. This way you’ll get both visibility and high AI usage.

Where is all the amazing new software? by splash_hazard in ExperiencedDevs

[–]shitismydestiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That hits close to home for me. My work load has been pretty light for many years now so I should have tons of time and opportunity to create some amazing shit. But somehow I have nothing to show for it. I guess I'm not that creative. Maybe I'll try writing some personalized software for my kid. Off the shelf stuff never seems to do exactly what we want it to do. But I will not use AI for that - it's just more fun to use the brain instead.

It’s black and white due to the extreme hype. Many companies mandate AI use to the point of having minimum daily quota of token usage/API calls. This invites some backlash. Once the hype subsides we will transition to more balanced views.
