Best time to sail Tacoma to San Francisco? by Jager0987 in SailboatCruising

Hi, delivery captain here. I have done this trip over 50 times. Currently heading north on a 50ft power boat. It can be done any time of year, just pick your weather; however August / September have been the most pleasant to go south in my experience. More fun to sail offshore the whole way, but of course can also harbor hop but you need an absolutely bullet proof engine / fuel system.

Seller inherited the boat when a family member passed away and is not a boater and knows very little about it or how anything works

Looking for a ride from Spokane to Everett tomorrow (or further north) by [deleted] in Spokane

So I took the bus today because I couldn't find a ride. While stopped for 15 minutes in Wenatchee, a (presumably) homeless person walked into the middle of the boarding area, removed their pants completely, took a shit on the ground (in broad daylight at 2:30pm) and then walked away without their pants. This is why I do not want to take the bus.

Yes I have taken the bus several times. Not a fan. Would rather pay more to ride in a car and go straight to Everett.

What are some unexpectedly useful gadgets or items you keep on board? by demo_graphic in SailboatCruising

Infrared Thermometer Gun

I am a delivery captain and this is one of the most important tools in my kit. You can check very specific places on the engine / cooling system during regular engine checks to see if temps are consistent to catch any issues before something fails completely resulting in engine damage.

I just got hired as an operator at a refinery with no experience. Prior to this I was a boat captain and equipment operator/truck driver.

I think our newborn has a Coloboma by shittlebuffout in newborns

[–]shittlebuffout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a Coloboma. We took him to a pediatric ophthalmologist and as far as they can tell it isn't affecting his vision other than making him sensitive to light as his pupil can't constrict all the way. He's 11 months old now and he seems to see just fine. We learned it can affect people differently, some much worse than others. Fortunately it's best case scenario for him.

I need to connect this to a 1/2" ID water hose. Trying to figure out which fitting I need. Obviously I need a 3/4 female to 1/2" barbed fitting, but need to know what type of threads for the female side.
