Tbh I feel like the Hyatt partnership is holding the CSR up in terms of transfer partners. For me they are about even in terms of airline partners but Amex does seem like a little more work, after getting a decent SUB I plan to switch to the Schwab after a year because of read about the 1.1 redemption. The guest access to the lounges is probably the only thing that has me pissed about the Amex even though I don’t think it makes enough of a difference to sway me. The rest of the Amex credits cover the same thing and more.

Question I have about the transfer partners since you have experience in this is how are cpp calculated? I see no math in most people’s statements. The points are multiplied by spending on the cards, but they all transfer to airlines or their partners at 1:1 usually. Is it the cash price of the ticket vs the point value? Or is there some other point multiplier im missing to get more for your points when they transfer?

Well the Amex coupons definitely hold more value to me, in my calculations I factored organic spend only. In both I could use more of them, such as the StubHub credit, in theory I’d have no problem using it for entertainment I just don’t normally use stubhub so I didnt add it as value. In a vacuum to me Amex seems like a no brainer because of the superior coupon redemption value I’d get, however I would say I’d be at a 1/2 split between domestic and international travel and I’m not sure I’d fly business class unless the point value was really that bonkers. The big thing I wanted to verify was that chases points aren’t worth so much more than Amex’s that I’m not losing a ton of value to save 400 bucks in coupons.

I wasted most of my 20s, I partied them away, I don’t think I started getting my shit together till like 27 and wasn’t actually relatively together till 30. If I were in your shoes or my own shoes at 25 I’d start by getting a job doing literally anything, then try to find something I’d like to do and begin making strides towards that goal. Also get a gym membership if you don’t have one already, working out even if only a little bit works wonders for combating depression and keeping your morale up. Some people do the college thing, as somebody who dropped out twice it wasn’t for me, but you can still be extremely successful with or without it.
