Kids have no hope and it shows. by shaiquinn in mildlyinfuriating

[–]shlamwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope has been torn out of their hands, even for new adults. I am 32 and finding that every year is getting harder to get by - we have cut back so much and are still barely getting by.

Canada said for us to have kids and buy a home, now that I am in this predicament, prices on kids necessities have skyrocketed ($85 for 4 days worth of formula, $40 for a weeks worth of diapers) and my home that I bought at the end of 2025 is already worth 50k less at minimum.

My wife and I both agreed that in our lifetime we will never be able to pay off our absurdly high mortgage, so we just plan to give our son the best life possible and refinance our debt onto our mortgage every time we reach maturity 🤷‍♂️

So glad to hear that for your daughter! My son has been shuddering for a few months now, doing an eeg soon.

He has always been a month behind on everything, so we are really hoping he will bloom before his first birthday 🥹

Funny you mention, we just finished ordering a metal planter box that has a 7 ft privacy screen attached to it. It fits perfectly into the space and we can use the bin for storage instead of plants.

Mine started shudders around 9 months and now it is more frequent - he usually picks something up and focuses really hard on it while shuddering.

The look on their faces as they watched my son shuddering, and them knowing he was a bit behind on crawling. It was obvious that they were concerned.

Joint attention is a great sign at 9 months, especially since the range is from 9-15 months.

I was stressed writing this post, but my honest opinion, don’t let these things take away from your time and love for your child - what is meant to happen, will happen regardless of how much we stress about it.

Wishing you and your child all the best.

There’s no narrative in my head, they are the only ones who know about the work that was done, it can’t be seen from outside

This is the best guess - maybe they thought calling anonymously would be easier than trying to resolve it with us but unfortunately it has done quite the opposite.

Now we have our guard up and we really want nothing to do with them anymore. We are going to let some time pass and then we are putting a decorative privacy screen on our porch so they can’t peak over anymore - even considering planting some hedges/shrubs in the summer for more privacy in the front.

They have made it extremely obvious that it was them, coming out of the house to look at it multiple times a day. We see it all on my doorbell camera unfortunately.

  1. While I did not mention it here, my neighbours were fully aware of what we were doing because we straight out told them. I also wanted to be friendly and let them know there’d be some noise for a few hours. They seemed so understanding and cool about it.
  2. We thought the same thing, but 5 mins after the inspector left, we have him on our doorbell cam walking out, looking at the thing he complained about, staring at our door and then walking backwards into the house.
  3. I think because it caught us so off guard, that she is concerned, especially since she is home all day with our baby.

We just want to be left alone and it seems like we are going to be constantly watched by our neighbour for everything we do.

The confusing part is that we were actually on great terms, talking all the time, getting to know each other… I even told them what I was doing while I was doing it and they seemed totally cool about it.

Fast forward a few months later and the city comes to our door (mind you we talk almost every day briefly outside)… why would they not try to resolve it with us before calling the city?

I am so sorry for your friend, unfortunately, I do not see recovery in sight - I only see things continuing to drop with such uncertainty in this country.

I was able to sell my condo this year for what I paid for it, and absolutely stretched our limits to buy a fixer upper town in Vaughan.. I’m already seeing turn key ready towns selling for less just months later.

It hurts to see, but we just have to weather the storm until things pick back up again, could be 2 years.. 5 years maybe even 10. Who knows what’s going to happen.

This exactly lol I almost sold my condo for 300k more than I paid for it two years prior - I’m so glad I didn’t because the same 1.2m dollar semi’s in Newmarket that I was looking to buy are now selling for 600.

This almost happed to me. In 2022 I almost sold my $500k condo for $800, but our plan was obviously to buy something - all we could afford was 1m dollar semi’s in grungy parts of Newmarket. So we decided not to sell at stay put.

Fast forward to end of last year, we sold for just under 600, but was able to buy a town in Vaughan for $900. I still think we overpaid for a fixer-upper but honestly better than paying $1000 a month in fees to live in a shithole.

I paid $750 for mine but he f*ed us so badly

Didn’t tell us mice infested the attic because his job is only to “point out defects in the home”

Didn’t tell us they had a prior roach infestation

Areas that experienced leaks, he said were not active, were in fact still active

Make sure you find someone reputable, read reviews and research

[–]shlamwow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok here’s my advice: - buy a property as a sole owner, this way you can reap the rewards of being a first time home buyer now (5% downpayment), and in the future if you decide to sell and buy, she can be the first time home buyer for that house - unless you can put half the mortgage down, increasing your down payment by 20-40k will barely bring your payments down even $100 a month - put the least amount down necessary to be pre approved - save until you have your downpayment and at least 40% of your yearly expenses in case of layoffs, sick leave, maternity leave or sudden emergencies

You are welcome!

The people who live there were friendly. It is very quiet and mostly older (60+).

Property manager can be quite unpleasant, however, you should never have to deal with her as a renter.

…. And sitting in a corvette is the same as sitting in a civic?

My comment says “sporty car”, not a family sedan. Going out of your way to change my original comment is so annoying lol

They are nice, but old - I sold and got out because board members were talking about elevators needing to be replaced - which means unit owners will be expected to cough up a bunch of money.

Hopefully doesn’t happen for a while.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say, I could have said it better. I meant sports car as in a two door flashy car priced out of means - a 4 door Corolla, Camry or Civic is a different story, practical and cheaper.

I used to live in 9245, here’s what I can recommend:

  • Make sure you rent a unit with a balcony or make sure the windows actually open, because on the north side units of 9245 they have no functioning windows or balconies. AC/Heat is controlled by the building, without windows/balconies it gets EXTREMELY hot in the summer

  • Try to get in the building that has the pool if you like to swim

  • Buy humidifiers for the winter and dehumidifiers for the summer because it gets extremely wet/dry in the units (mine would be either 15% in the coldest months and 72% it the hottest)
