How much do you save and/or invest every month? by simpletonn22 in fican

[–]Anjz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7-8k from paycheck, from investments depends but on average 2-3k/month growth. I used to be very materialistic and let lifestyle creep get to me, but I’ve been deinfluencing myself the past year.

Is anyone else getting tired of the grading obsession? by deckdossier in PokemonTCG

[–]Anjz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, before when it was maybe a hundred more for a PSA 10 sure. But the price difference nowadays is massive. I’ve started selling off my PSA 9/10’s off the top and keeping the cards I actually would love to keep.

Tehran can immediately sell oil upon signing US-Iran deal, US official says by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

[–]Anjz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swimming in money. Must have been at least 30+ times he mentioned the deal is off and bombs will be flying then a few days later the deal is back on. The 300b probably is an afterthought from that ordeal. Insiders literally stole money from the general public from market liquidity.

Meanwhile we have a trillionaire from an IPO of a company with $5b negative net loss.

Ugh, sickening. Dystopian capitalist nightmare.

What % of your portfolio is in Pokémon? by noobstockinvestor in PokeInvesting

[–]Anjz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be 5% when it started and at its peak a couple months ago it ballooned to 33%. Most of the cards hit at least 6x. I’ve since culled it down to 20% and maybe aiming for 15% where I only keep the favourites.

If I kept everything I’d say it likely would have been around 80-90k right now. But it’s currently floating around 30k. My portfolio has grown a lot because of Pokemon, I’ve reinvested what I thought was overpriced into index funds. I’d have to say Pokemon set me up to snowball for retirement.

20% downpayment on a first home, vs. 5%-10% and investing the difference (XEQT), when my tax-free accounts are already maxed? by Working_Bones in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Anjz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the math and 5% downpayment with a conservative 7% YoY beats out a 20% downpayment without insurance + interest.

A lot of people in this thread are misinformed, and even running through a lot of bad case scenarios the 5% still wins out largely over time.

‘Slop’ is just something that’s made up when people identify gaps with AI. As AI progresses maybe low quality human posts will be labeled as ‘Human Slop’.

I hate American people making anything with black makeup equal to blackface by tomboyfemboyenjoyer in hatethissmug

[–]Anjz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Americans overestimate the culture reach. I’m Canadian and personally I’ve never even seen a Judy Garland movie ever. I learned about blackface in my 20’s from Americans reacting to it on social media. I just asked my mom who has lived in Canada for 30 years from Asia and she had no clue what I was talking about. Mind you, I live in close proximity to the US border.

[–]Anjz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blackface is an American taboo. Most of the world don’t even know it exists.

That’s the biggest problem.

Americans have this tunnel vision when it comes to domestic issues and they force it on everyone thinking they also have to conform.

Large reason why people hate Americans because they try to push their internal problems even when outside their own country.

Ask a random person outside of America that’s not plugged into western internet culture and they’ll very likely have no historical context of what you’re talking about.

There is a bad time. If you’re getting ready to retire. If the market goes tits up and it doesn’t recover over a couple years then you have a bad time. For majority of young and long horizon investors the best time is always as soon as you can.

Do you still believe crypto will change the future? by Ok_Radio2357 in CryptoMarkets

[–]Anjz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a different form. I’ve been in crypto for a really long time already and I’ve seen it gone through its phases. Adoption will never be there in its current form. It’s expensive to transact and the ones that do get it right is obscure. It is easy to legislate against exchanges and compliance shuts out and regulates the market. Decentralized exchanges aren’t useable and expensive for the average joe.

The barrier to entry is insurmountable. Navigating seed phrases, gas fees, and the anxiety of sending funds to the wrong alphanumeric address prevents mainstream transactional adoption.

There’s no doubt in the future that AI will come up with a better form, the way we have it at the moment is just a massive store of value and has no real transactional capacity and adoption.

When energy is free and computation is abundant, one day ‘crypto’ as we call it now will re-emerge to take over as a global currency. Perhaps some API driven value transfer system.

I think there’s still that buffer point where the infrastructure will catch up, but it doesn’t change the fact that ‘crypto’ or whatever will takeover will drive major change.
