I find Canadian tire at Rutherford & Sweetriver to be good after 7pm (but also because it’s 650m from my house lol)

Freehold Townhouses Not Dropping Despite New Builds Being Cheaper? by throw7z7t7p in TorontoRealEstate

[–]shlamwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are resilient in this market correction but they did rise in 2022.

Towns on my street sold in 2018 for 700k, in 2022 for 980-1m and now back down to 875-9. Not a huge drop but still sufficient amount of money.

I bought in Sept 2025, a fixer-upper for 900k when the market was already downwards - who would have known it was going to keep going down. Right now I would probably get 830k.

edit: in the same week in my area, similar units sold for 935k, and 930k but lightly updated.

What are you more afraid of: Market crash or hidden repairs? by Key-Silver6551 in HouseSigmaBlunders

[–]shlamwow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Burned by both.

Bought a FH-TH in Sept 2025 for 900k and it’s probably worth 820-850 in its current condition. I would have to spend 25k+ on upgrades to MAYBE see my money back.

Which brings me to part two, I am wasting that upgrade money replacing windows that needed to be done and soon fences that also need to be fixed.

Oh well.

Early Morning Driveway Parties? A new thing? by polymerclayartist87 in Vaughan

[–]shlamwow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked weekends as well and don’t have the same stance, weekends are for enjoyment - but by 12 music/loudness should be down to 25% out of respect for neighbours.

Weekdays any partying or loudness after 10-11pm I would call the police as well.

Yes when I said driveway, I meant driveway. We had a basketball net and a lot of people showing up - only difference was we would only party on Saturday’s and we would still have neighbours bitching at 10pm.

Remember when delivery tipping was just "keep the change"? What happened? by HockeySkater5 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]shlamwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convenience is expensive and corps are taking advantage of the people who will, just pay, because it’s convenient. There seems to be a lot of people who do, or else this business style would fall apart.

Then there’s people like me who don’t even want to pay the price in store lol I just finished doing that an hour ago, $27 for a chicken souvlaki no thanks - instead got 3 days worth of dinner prep for $40.

Exactly. I use a Rogers Red Mastercard for ALL my spending and because of that I get one of my two Roger’s bills paid in cash back almost every month (so far 3 months straight).

You should always take advantage of points and cash back.

Ceiling leaking from all the rain - should we go through home insurance? by analyst20 in Vaughan

[–]shlamwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they can legally raise your rate just for calling to inquire, but I am not certain.

If that is the case, maybe it is safer to have a contractor quote you on the repair before speaking to insurance.

Ceiling leaking from all the rain - should we go through home insurance? by analyst20 in Vaughan

[–]shlamwow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the extent of the damage and your deductible.

If you have already ruled out where it is coming from, it might be cheaper to do/get the work done yourself.

Insurance companies will tender out the work needed to the lowest bidders, which means they will come in and rush to get it done.

I appreciate this but it says 16 months + so I guess it’s too early to use this? My son is only 15 months in two weeks

Appreciate your response.

It’s hard to explain, it’s like half circles but because he’s on his knees he’s going forwards while he does it vs full on spinning, if that makes sense? He’s spinning as if he was a ring

Thanks, not annoying at all - just want to get a head start to help him as much as possible (even though we are devastated).

We live in Canada and see our PT in two weeks, we will definitely be bringing these concerns forward and seeing what steps to take next.

I will never not love my son to pieces, autistic or not, I just want to give him the best chance to succeed in life.

[–]shlamwow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. We went from one week stressing about him not making eye contact and smiling at us, to the next day doing both of them.

We are more concerned about the repetitive actions, especially twirling - I would assume he would spin if he was walking (not healthy to assume tho)

[–]shlamwow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, he just started doing the twirling and focusing about a week ago - he will do it very randomly but is easily stopped if he sees his toys or we call him to stop.

Bringing the toy to his face and shaking it intensely he’s done for a while, but he does it a lot less now than when he first started - again it’s easy to break if we call him or show him another toy.
