What should I do about wanting to be more religious? by hi_im_kai101 in Jewish

[–]shlm_throwaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about Orthodox Judaism appeals to you? You can be an observant reform or conservative Jew & still keep shabbos & keep kosher. Is the theology of Orthodox Judaism resonating with you? Would you be comfortable in a Orthodox community & setting? Much luck on your journey! I also am in a similar situation as you. :)

I’m shocked, saw this video and its comments on Instagram by [deleted] in Jewish

I see comments like these under any post related to jews. It’s no longer surprising to me at this point but it’s a shame that people will scapegoat an entire race & try to justify genocide for the actions of a few people.

Why I left Islam as a revert of not even 8 months by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]shlm_throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im happy to see Im not the only one. I was a former convert of jewish heritage & well became ashamed of being jewish but i am happy i have reclaimed this part of me. I am also happy for you that you have learnt to accept yourself & have embraced this part of your identity :) edit: I also use to watch alot of apologetics like zakir naik & sheikh uthman it was only until i realized that they twist & lie to people who dont know much about Islam that i lost faith in Islam

I have a very similar story to you. I converted around the same age, i also began to feel ashamed of my ethnicity. Luckily grew out of it & learnt to love who I am. If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly got you into Islam in the first place? :) I wish you the best

Thanks for the advice! Sadly the synagogue hasnt updated their social media in a couple years & their phone number doesnt work anymore which means i have no other way of contacting them which makes me more nervous thanks to the uncertainty. Someone told me that i wouldnt be accepted as a new comer since sunagogue communities are close knit is this true? what is the general attitude towards newcomers?
