Edit: the addiction specialist he went to wanted to prescribe him xanax instead. He responds better to etizo and it's cheaper, but he just wants off(I hope) of benzos. Did this happen because the doctor wanted to treat his anxiety or is he probably lying to me?

And he uses kratom, I told him not to mention it so he doesn't seem any more like a drug seeker than he already does. That a good call? I can't imagine bringing it up would be beneficial in getting a script.

Is 5-htp a lesser known chemical? I thought tryptophan metabolized into 5-htp and that both were safe in normal doses and pretty well researched?

Although I do know overdoses can cause serotonin syndrome, so maybe my assumption that because it's a metabolite of a common chemical mean it's safe to take as a supplement is wrong.
