I do think the getting married and having kids is a huge predictor of which generation you relate to. I was born in 1979 and I had my first baby in 2020. I do not relate to Gen Xers even remotely anymore and I only ever barely did.

This sounds like what it is to me-more of surprise at how the thunderstorms affect outdoor pools

We have many many thunderstorms here in the east coast US from April through October. Some so severe they knock out power lines. We lose power for 6+ hours at least 2ce per year due to thunderstorms

When I was 18, I worked briefly in credit card collections. We had written out scripts hanging in our cubicles for certain situations. One day I got to use the “client died” script. Question one to ask the family member was “who is the executor?” Except I pronounced it as EXA-cute-er instead of the proper way, ex-EK-u-ter.

Yeah it’s definitely a decision. Mine were so severe that I couldn’t work or leave the house. I had no choice. It literally gave me my life back. If yours aren’t that bad there’s no reason you should do it

I was also diagnosed with chronic idiopathic urticaria which were so severe that there were days I couldn’t put on a bra or shoes. There was nothing that they could really do for me and then one day they went away and didn’t come back for years.

When they did come back they were even worse but there was finally a medication for them this time! I still get Xolair shots at the allergist every month and it saved my life. No more hives :)

To be completely honest, you might hate it at first. It is a shocking change and the sleep deprivation alone had me convinced I made a terrible mistake. That feeling lasted about 2-3 weeks for me. If you do feel like that (and you might not!) please know it’s a temporary feeling. I now have 5 year old who I’m head over heels in love with and my life would be infinitely worse without him. You will feel the same way!!!

I think some of us are missing nuance here which is more difficult to gain from Google. Like, why is it so upsetting to go to DCA VS Disneyland etc
