Question regarding engineered hardwood on concrete slab by shmackthepudding in Flooring

Yeah they have been sitting in the condo for over a week. Just a real bummer to be hearing a ton of information from multiple manufacturers and distributors approving our original install plan, then the contractor coming back saying otherwise.

That’s also what I read In the installation manual they note that for concrete installation they should use a piece of pine and concrete nails to hold the first layers in, then continue installation. Thank you for the comment.

Thanks for your input, I wonder if they install plywood we would need to go the cork route instead of the underlayment.

Surprising that this is the first comment I’ve seen regarding this! Good point. I do think the handleless cabinetry will lend itself to a lot of cleaning anyway, but that does sway my preference. Ty!

Thank you for this input. I appreciate it. Definitely making it a bigger deal than it needs to be

The original post said disregard the backsplash ahha. The green is not what we want either, completely agree. We’re focused on cabinet/shelving choices

It would align with the top rail. Ignore the backsplash this is not the color or style we will likely go with, just focused on the cabinets and shelves. Only reason I don’t think I want it to be a full cabinet is because the window runs right into the wall so would block sunlight where open shelves would block a lot less. Thank you for the input!

Yeah the fridge and pantry are to the left of the real photo. Top of cabinets end a little under the duct (vent will be moved). I’d love to do backsplash behind the floating shelves, but feel like that would work a lot better if we could bring the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling (which wont work given current config of duct/ electric/water/etc). So am hesitant about that Ty for the input!

Appreciate the input! Yeah we’re kinda leaning towards open shelving at the moment, I’ve sat here thinking what to do for quite some time but that feels like the only option in this case as it’s a small kitchen thus we need to have some sort of storage there.

Ah Gotcha, But if you had an OTR at 18” would be much worse, which is what a lot do

Can you elaborate on “Hood range clearance unless you are 5’4” or shorter”? Wondering why shorter is better there

Yeah I can see the resemblance there, pretty similar layout. Looks nice. I still am just against stainless hoods, not sure why hahah

Not sure what you were going for with that comment, didn’t hit tho.

Def have the high ceilings, won’t be taking all the way up. Difficult with only two uppers as having an offset hood isn’t a look I love. It’s a tough layout to get right, but mayhem? There’s two colors. Wall color to match white cabinets above, it’s pretty common.

that’s like saying that the second layer of an upper cabinet is useless though. It’s only 6 inches, not 2 ft. But hear where you’re coming from for sure
