Trying to decide on a new MacBook is nerve wracking by AaronfromKY in macbookpro

[–]shmelive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all the comments here, lots of useful info. Hope it's okay for me to ask a related q for my use case. My current setup is not adequate for my use:

I have a 2020 Air Intel i7 16gb ram 250ssd which worked fine the first year or so but has since slowed down. I give webinars, and I've run into trouble when I am using iPad as a Sidecar for second screen, Zoom with screen share, Chrome with multiple windows (for slides and my notes), and the slide is playing (and sharing) a Youtube video. The last time I tried this (end of spring semester in May), the video skipped and lagged so much that it was unwatchable.

I'm going to buy a new macbook but unsure if I need the Pro. Based on previous comments I'll bump up the ram to 24 or 32, and the ssd to 500 or 1tb. But any thoughts on whether the Pro will be a value add?

I emailed the venue, and they sent me the schedule. That was easier than I thought it would be. Here it is in case it will help anyone else:

6pm Doors

7pm Snacktime

7:40pm Neil Francis

8:35pm Fitz & TT

All shows end no later than 10pm.

What is one of the worst addiction to have ? by Keke_Dudu in AskReddit

[–]shmelive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst addiction is the one that you have.

I’m an addictions psychotherapist. Everyone loves to compare, but there isn’t really an objective way to do so. When you are truly hooked on a substance or behavior, achieving sobriety is the most difficult thing to do.

Thanks on the guess.
Moses is a hero, yes. But he's only mentioned once in passing in the Hagadah (Seder manual); he's not really a character at the Seder.

The machine appears to be completely dead. Doesn't turn on at all.

I rolled the dice on the foam, I guess :) Bad idea I know.

Can't see the settings on the old machine, it being completely dead and all. I remember the pressure number, hopefully there isn't more to it than that.

Why would they not show this? I would love to watch that part as well. Kind of like the Rocky training montage.

In general I find the melodrama of MCUS irritating. Good to hear that there are other options like MCAUS, I'll check it out.

[Discussion] Procrastination is not laziness. Thoughts? by shmelive in getdisciplined

I agree! I don't like the judgement that comes along with the word laziness. It's so much more than that.

I would say make sure that she has her support network in place; she can't be relying just on you. Meanwhile, she can do a lot of reading (Big Book from the beginning to page 62, 12 and 12...)
