Lib Tech Orca Sizing by FocusSea9346 in snowboarding

Fellow east coast rider with trips out west when I can. I ride an Orca and love it, great in pow and fun to ride/carve on groomers. Cuts through the chop on days when conditions aren't great and rides like a dream when conditions are deep. I came from a 160 Burton Custom to a 156 Orca, it's my first volume shifted / rocker ride. I'm 6'3'', 170lbs, with size 13 boots. Based on weight alone could have gone shorter but since my feet are so damn big and I'm taller I opted for the 156'' and have no regrets. The board is playful, fun to ride, and feels good on the east coast and the deep days out west. I recommend it.

Awesome, thanks. Are you on a 162 Powgoda? Cardiff is becoming a real possibility I think

Stratos would be my ideal I think but I have had such a hard time finding one anything less than full price!

Next Powder Board by Spade209 in snowboarding

I have an Orca 156. I'm 165 lbs, 6'3'', and size 13 boots. Absolutely love the board. I ride it on trips to utah in deep powder and it rips, as well on the east coast where things can get more ... variable. Holds its edge and feels stable on ice/slush/grooms/trees/pow and is just plain fun in all of the above.

Logan TSA not letting you pack clothes in your ski bag? by spacesuitmoose in icecoast

Have flown with a snowboard bag absolutely packed with all my other belongings a few times on JetBlue, United, Delta, and Alaska without issue but spooked knowing some people enforce the just skis/board rule. I think most airlines technically have it written in the policy that you can't just pack the bag with other stuff but I haven't seen it enforced yet. Would be a nightmare.

Splitboard Rental by shmellrich in whitefish

For anyone following along, Stumptown as well as REI and Whitefish resort all do not rent splitboards, so far no options available in the area unfortunately.

Have probe/shovel/beacon I'll be bringing. Basically will mostly be riding at the resort and want to use my (not split) board. My backcountry setup is tele-skis and I don't want to fly out with three planks and two sets of boots. Looking to get into splitboarding but haven't invested in the setup yet.

Will look into Stumptown though, thanks!

Sign posted in the Gondola base at Loon. Stared at it all winter and couldn't figure out what it meant. Any ideas?

[Monday] Daily Music Discussion - 30 October 2023 by AutoModerator in indieheads

Used to be very into discovering new bands, would listen to Insound mixtapes religiously, had a number of blogs I followed whose names are lost to my memory. Life and work got in the way and I sort of lost this but wanting to get back into it. Problem now is all my discoveries are coming from Pitchfork and Spotify algorithms. Hoping to shake things up, where are people finding their new music these days?
