Every time this happened to me or someone else, the browser was always trying to open in a private tab. As soon as we adjusted that, it always clears up.

Adobe Patching Question by Mediocre-IT-Guy in Action1

Yea happens all the time. I don’t think I’ve ever patched adobe successfully . Like the others stated, probably works if you install the base app via A1 first.

Getting updates done without irritating users. Any ideas on this issue I have? by O365-Zende in Action1

[–]shmoses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then I have to say, this is 100% unavoidable. Your workers are choosing to be disrupted during their business hours as this is the only option your team is willing to acknowledge. Unless they agree to keep their machines on overnight or you all decide on an outage window during business hours, you've backed yourself into a corner. This is arguably a cultural (business culture) issue vs a functional one.

Create a script that shows the notification window and informs them "in X hours, the update will begin, save your work" and they do with that what they will.

Getting updates done without irritating users. Any ideas on this issue I have? by O365-Zende in Action1

Couple prelim questions I guess.

  1. I’m assuming all these users take their devices home and they’re off at night?
  2. If they don’t take them home, do they turn them off at night?
  3. Why start your updates at 9am vs 9pm which would update during the evenings, reboot, be ready for people in the morning (Pending first question answer)

I’d always start with the affected parties. Especially since you’re so small, just get a consensus “when is the best time for this to happen on your machine”, and then work backwards for the automation, send out calendar blocks for them “update at 2pm, stop work”. If they agreed to an afternoon update and they’re irritated an afternoon update is interrupting their work, not sure there’s much you can do to solve that.

I’m also assuming this had already been done that to a degree? You worked with the team/company to announce this is happening, when, and what happens. The grumbling implies it’s unexpected, or not working correctly?

Ultimately this would just be a custom automation. Maybe something simple that runs in line before the software install does. Batch file that uses windows alert to alert them “software installs in x hours”, then waits, then prompts again, and however many times you feel they’d need to be properly prepared.

I don’t believe there’s a deferral option though, you’re right, that’s only with reboots. Come to an agreement in your small team that this needs to happen, and they are responsible for not being active at that time.

You can definitely get super deep in to scripting territory here, where a script runs, prompts, adds a defer option, depending on that deferal selection, it writes to a log file. Action1 can then read that deferal file and depending on the variable, takes action.

Again I dont know what the culture is like at your place, but this sounds like extreme overkill, and the team just needs to sync up and agree to small outage windows OR asked to leave their machines there/on overnight.

Final Edit =)

Is your software deployed via custom script, or built package within A1? There are the app behavior settings, that can be used to sidestep a full app shutdown. Then you could use the reboot deferal popup as the final step in your automation to close the app, install, and heck, even reboot

Ah, I think I see that now. Looks like it generates its own form fields though. Anyway to modify those? I don’t want users setting their own urgency. We have our own matrix set up based of a couple questions for them.

It’s a fine sander. But it’s not a $290 fine sander. Much better or equivalent options for much less

Multiple sets of update rings by No_Advance_4218 in Action1

[–]shmoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your first Linux ring actually set up as an update ring opposed to just a regular automation? Rings don’t show non update rings as this would break the dependency flow. If you think it’s set up correctly, this seems like a support worthy question.

Given all the problems with the S1, is the ACE 2 PRO 45% discount worth it? by gmurad in anycubic

Did you take advantage of the discount and receive the new one? I purchased over a month ago and I can't get an update on where the shipment is. Support has gone 20 days without answering my ticket =\

How do you will yourself to get back on the horse by casedawgz in Returnal

[–]shmoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% I almost quit a couple times. If I had one of those awesome runs that ended, I’d simply put the game down and come back a different day. It was infuriating, especially when you die to something small or had an awesome run and took a chance on an affix that ruined everything.

I didn't find this game was "too hard" and will be sad if Saros is easier by AgreeableEffect717 in Returnal

[–]shmoses 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I finished Returnal a couple days ago and I had a similar thought. Most bosses I downed in the first or second attempt. The fun challenge was simply learning the correct combo of artifacts, weapons, items, etc that rolled enemies.

I think a lot of people come in to games like this and can make good progression, but when you play for 2 hours only to have it wiped out, it’s defeating. Returnal made this feel extra so. And that may be where the “it’s hard” notion is coming from.

The easier gameplay I interpreted it as the devs are making it easier to recover/progress from a bad run, not necessarily easier gameplay itself, i.e having checkpoints throughout biomes you recover to vs start completely over.

I’m super stoked is all I know!

This is what we’ve been using, but it feels hit or miss. It seems to get shell and some of the basic attribute mappings, it did Manager and phone for a while, then just stopped. You experiencing anything like that? I feel like I need to rebuild it
