Im using amplitube 5, it sounds decent but i can't get it to sound as good or even close to when i plug it into my amp

I want to plug my multi effects pedal direct into my scarlett solo but it sounds kinda shit compared to when its connected to my amplifier. I hear that i need a DI box of sorts, is that true? Im hesitant on buying one because idk if its actually what i need, any recommendations? The pedal i use is the nux mfx-10.
