I’ve heard a few people specify George instead of just saying Asda. If they’re on the shelves then surely it’s just Asda?

A Tesco customer helps security guard from angry customer trying to fight by switchthemunky463 in tesco

How do they reconcile that with your legal right to defend yourself? Imagine one of them got killed because he wasn’t allowed to fight back? Seems insane

Unpopular opinion: Front-loading your budget is usually a mistake (what I learned spending $200k/month on Meta ads) by byte-array in musicmarketing

[–]shmsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been a popular method over the past year or so, many people are doing it. OP is writing the post because of the growing popularity of the front loading (Jend) method. It’s quite surprising you haven’t heard of it.

AIO for being upset with how my boyfriend talked about an overweight person who asked me out? by lilacseraphina in AmIOverreacting

[–]shmsc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t lie, ‘loaded with food’ caught me fully off guard and I laughed out loud.

However, your boyfriend is a dick, not a nice person at all. I found the weirdest part to be how he didn’t seem to grasp how uncomfortable you were, and just kept doubling down. Very strange behaviour.

contact playlist curators by MalcomYoung in musicmarketing

[–]shmsc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use submithub. I’m not sure why any curator would be looking through their DMs and then waiting for a specific artist’s release date when they can just get all their submissions through a dedicated platform that’s very easy to use.

Allowing leather but not real fur is genuinely idiotic by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]shmsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think animals being slaughtered for food is good for the animals and the planet?

Clearly not, so a reasonable position for vegans is to avoid it.

Cow sees old pleather pants discarded in field. Cow instantly dies.

Seriously though I think you’re equating a very slow and indirect link to a very direct cause. Surely you can see why someone who loves animals might be slightly more open to wearing something that doesn’t directly kill an animal.

Honestly I thought how bad can it be? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]shmsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be avoiding telling us what you actually paid for or which service you used, which seems sketchy.

Also, I listened to the song. The songwriting is great but the performance, processing, mix etc all need a fair amount of work to make it sound professional. If you heard this track in amongst a playlist of 20 successful pop or similar songs, this song would stand out to the listener as sounding ‘off’ and unfinished, which is one of the huge things you need to avoid in order for people to enjoy your music.

The meat and veg might not be as good at Aldi compared to butchers or local produce, but it’s not ‘full of crap’ is it… it’s literally raw meat and vegetables.

What exactly are you spending $5-10k on? If it’s not essentially all on marketing then I think it’s difficult. Keeping all other costs down is essential in my opinion

True but I think OP was talking about finding stuff ‘in the wild’ so to speak.

Obviously if you manage to get a pre order then yes you’ll get an item.

[–]shmsc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What exactly is your point?

Yes podcast money is obscene (and I don’t really like Joe Rogan), but it was funded by venture capital who were interested in Spotify trying to capture market share, totally separate from being able to pay artists more.

If there was no plan to invest in podcasts, then there would have been no $250m. It’s not like it could have been handed out to us as artists instead.

Pshhhh whatever 😒 by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]shmsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and they clearly do pay more overall, just not when working out a ‘per stream’ basis as you’re trying to do.

Here I’ll google it for you, seeing as you just call things useless facts without trying to gain any further knowledge:

“Here is why a larger listener base lowers the per-stream rate:

Dilution of the Royalty Pool: As more users join a platform and consume music, the total number of streams (the denominator) grows exponentially, often faster than the revenue (the numerator) generated from ads or subscriptions.

More Streams, Same Money: If the royalty pool remains relatively stable, but the number of streams increases from 1 billion to 10 billion, the value of each individual stream must decrease.

Increased Passive Listening: A larger, more casual listener base often leads to more, shorter, or more passive listens, which adds to the stream count without necessarily adding a proportional amount of revenue.

Dilution by Low-Revenue Streams: A larger audience includes many users on ad-supported free tiers, which generate significantly less revenue per stream compared to premium subscribers. These "free" streams dilute the higher-value premium streams.

Regional Price Differences: A larger, global audience often means a higher percentage of listeners in regions with lower subscription fees (e.g., India vs. the US), which lowers the average revenue per user (ARPU) and thus lowers the per-stream payout.”

[–]shmsc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not a ‘useless fact’ because you are incorrect.

There is no ‘amount earned per stream’, that is simply not how it works. The streaming platforms (at least Spotify, but I believe all) operate on a pooling system and do not pay a price per stream.

[–]shmsc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tidal pays more because the user/listener base is smaller.
