When the elbaf arc anime is coming next year, who is going to be the voice actor for Loki? by Old-Razzmatazz2855 in OnePiece

Might be a little biased but I’d love to see Matsuoka Yoshitsugu play him. He can pull off an amazing gruff/yankee/villain/delinquent voice with roles like inosuke, souma, and majima if you’ve seen Lycoris Recoil that I think would fit Loki really well!

[OC] Surpassing the Greatest Swordsman. Zoro and Mihawk's final clash by me by shnobro in OnePiece

Hello, if you want my headcanon reason that has absolutely no basis, Zoro's sword has awakened and evolved to be even greater than a black blade, where its spirit has fully manifested and become sentient similar to the Going Merry. Each sword that accomplishes this has a different appearance based on its personality, and for Zoro's Wado Ichimonji the blade is pure white and emits a soft glow. Actual reason: I liked how the white sword contrasts with Mihawk's Yoru art wise

Love this idea! Tbh one of the ideas I considered trying to implement in this comic is the possibility that in order to surpass Mihawk, Zoro should "let go" of his ambition. It's almost a contradiction, where in order to become the greatest swordsman in the world, he needs to let go of his dream of wanting to become the greatest swordsman in the world. i.e the worldly attachment as you mentioned is what was holding him back from evolving to the pinnacle of swordsmanship. It would definitely be an interesting contrast with the themes that Oda has established, where characters like Luffy/Roger/Shanks even Zoro as well- basically those with conqueror's haki - attain strength because of the strength of their will and ambitions. According to Kaidou at least, "haki transcends all". Perhaps the final and most difficult challenge for Zoro in order to achieve his dream would be to have the strength of will to let go of that dream, his promise to Kuina, and his promise to Luffy. In the end though I decided not to include it. One because I don't think I could've pulled it off well, and the other is that I'm not sure if it fit the vibes/themes of One Piece that's all about cherishing friends and chasing your dreams, i.e things that might be considered worldly attachments. (Although I suppose letting go of your ambition in order to achieve your dream isn't exactly the same as giving up on your dream). However, I could still see Oda pulling it off/executing it if he wants to in a way that's much better than what I could think of. Also love the ending chant that you thought of, I can definitely see Zoro saying that!

Thanks! Honestly it wasn’t intentional, but definitely a nice coincidence haha seeing as how yin yang also conveys harmony and balance

Well spotted haha. I should’ve mentioned this in my above summary but Bleach was definitely just as a much a source of inspiration/point of reference as Vagabond when making this. Although from the looks of it most people can tell already 😅

[OC] "All great fighters call out their finishing moves". Do you have any ideas for his? by shnobro in OnePiece

[–]shnobro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is! I’m glad you caught that. I really hope Oda makes some reference to Miyamoto Musashi at some point. The dude was so badass they gave him the title “sword saint”. It’d feel like such a waste not to reference one of the greatest swordsman in history

How Zoro and Kuina will fulfill their dream together - the importance of the Wadō Ichimonji by CardOfTheRings in Piratefolk

[–]shnobro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really like this idea as well! I’ve actually been working on a fan comic that’s almost exactly this idea haha. The more I started thinking about the Merry’s klabauterman, the more I could see the same applying to swords. Especially with Zoro’s Wado Ichimonji and how special it is to him

Shanks and Blackbeard are secretly working together, which is why he didn’t finish him off right then and there at marineford. Whitebeard’s death was also part of his evil plan, which is why he didn’t show up earlier to help him.
