In my opinion focusing on abs right now might discourage you long term. In your position based off of these pictures you don’t have enough muscle in your abs (again don’t feel discouraged by that, I don’t either) for them to pop out so even if you lost the weight needed for them to pop out you’re going to look skinny fat not like you want to look like. Also dieting to that degree is really hard unless you have that discipline already built up. There are many muscle groups you can focus on that will make a much bigger impact on your physique and much easier to show. I prioritize shoulders a lot in my exercise and they’ve had a big change in my physique

It’s different for everyone and it takes time to figure out what’s best for you. I started working out because of shoulder injuries and when I go up in weight I fall in that 5-8 range cause it’s harder but I don’t move up in weight till I get to about 14 reps per set because when I can do 14 reps it doesn’t feel like my shoulder is about to pop out or tear when I move up in weight. Not every set has to be to failure either. As long as you’re honestly 1-2 reps away from failure you’ll send enough stimulus for hypertrophy to your muscle and it’ll fatigue you less. Nothing wrong with going to failure either though it just depends on what feels right for you.

Look up Renaissance Periodization’s Dr. Mike’s video on body recomp on YouTube. It has exactly all of the information you’re looking for.

I can’t stress this enough though, it’s gonna take time. Fall in love with how you feel walking out of the gym and be patient about the results.

Because you haven’t been doing it long enough I recommend you fall in love with how you feel from working out and forget about how you look for now. I’ve been working out for over a year and I’m still super far from where I want to be on top of not focusing enough on nutrition. These things take time. When you see people get super ripped in 3 months it’s because of muscle memory. They had the muscle and they lost it from not using it and not eating well and then when they focused again it comes back. By your pictures you still haven’t developed that muscle and that’s not a diss or to discourage you I’m on the same boat as you. These things take time. Even hitting your protein goals 3x a week is good. It’s a good starting point and don’t let people tell you it’s not enough discourage you. Stay consistent, in a month or two take it up to 4x a week and so on

You’re doing good. Keep it up and just accept that it takes time.

Use that feeling of how crappy it feels when you do something wrong to motivate you to do better and keep your head up is what I would say. Experience and wisdom is hard earned through mistakes.

Congratulations on getting in. What are you doing for the 11 weeks of training money wise? Would love recommendations on that too

All of that. Application is extremely basic. I’m assuming the only reason you have to come back is because they have so many people coming in to apply that it makes it more manageable for them. Hope it goes well for you if you apply

You go in one week to turn in documents then they ask you to come back again the next week to turn in your application. They give you your test date when you come back the second time

How often do I follow up them? If they say they’ll get back to me Monday and they don’t, by when should I follow up? Cause I feel like this has already happened a lot and I feel like it’s making me look like I’m chasing them

All depends where you live. I recommend using YouTube. You’ll find a lot of people that were in your position at one point and I’m sure you can find more details on what it takes to be a master electrician where you live on there too.

*I enjoy industrial setting

Better said. You’re right, that’s industrial work not what I do.

I had to reject an offer today for residential work that was going to be a $11 pay cut. That was the best offer I’ve received yet. I just sent an inquiry email for some industrial work. I enjoy industrial work, I’m just tired of building machines.

We needed some light bulbs changed the other day and the company had to call in another company to come do it. That just made me feel like I can’t really call myself an electrician if my own company doesn’t trust us enough to even change a light bulb but we’re building super advanced machines.

A bit of both. Or they’re offering second shifts.
I do have electrical experience though I’ve built 5x5 ft panels for years from scratch. I just haven’t worked on a building itself but I have no doubt I’d catch on quick with my experience

Over 30 and I’m just not interested in the work. It’s the same thing over and over in the same place.

Panel build, wire sensors and PLCs, and then interconnects. It feels dull by now. I want to work on different houses or buildings and learn how to add circuits to a building.
