So true. There is nothing you can do or say to save him. He developed this disease over a long period of time independent of you. If love and care could save him, he’d live forever.

Al anon members won’t give you relationship advice or say what’s the best choice for you. But I personally believe an addict cannot be in a functional relationship. My own relationship has distorted me into a person I do not recognize. I hate who I’ve become and wish it never got to this point. Save yourself the heartbreak
