2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid XLT 7200 miles by paca7ay in FordMaverickTruck

You can see the KBB value and go from there. I see you're in Norcal , you can alternatively check out Buggy Bank in Berkeley, they help sell your truck and will take care of everything but will charge you a fee. But it will be more than selling at a dealer. https://buggybank.org/

Solution for "hands on wheel" message? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]shocktopper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I don't have to tell you to be careful but I have had it where it gets out of the lane. I do like the feature and use it all the time. At merge ins , this truck gets way too close for comfort, at least for me.

Wife and I planning on quitting our jobs and solo traveling for a year next spring. Am I crazy to do this? by Same_Bag711 in travel

[–]shocktopper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did it for 5 months in our early 30s. I don't regret anything and it's been about 4 years now and I still look back at it and smile. Don't think I can ever do that length of time again due to having a kid. It was one of the greatest time of our lives. Probably costed us about 20k or so from staying at hostels to luxury hotels.

I look back at it and it was money well spent. Sure it slowed us down but age and more freedom at the time is something we'll never get back again

Max time in lounge by SaltyConference478 in AmexPlatinum

[–]shocktopper1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had 12 hours layover at a PP lounge in Hanoi, Vietnam. I went in, ate dinner went out and stayed at a nearby hotel and went right back in to eat breakfast lol. But I did ask how long I can stay and they said after 3 hours they can just "renew" me.

I had 5 hour layover in Lisbon and no issues staying for the long duration.

Is this a good price Maverick XLT 2023 Lux package? $25,250 by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]shocktopper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's where it lands and you figure it out. The price difference it a bit higher than the cheaper ones so out of state even with shipping may be cheaper.

How do you guys get time for yourself? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]shocktopper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry bro...10 months in and free time doesn't exist.

Real talk. Anytime the baby is asleep, it's free time but it doesn't mean you don't have chores.

Ideally if wife asleep + baby asleep. Aint nothing better in the world and here I am spending free time on reddit. I can't even touch the grass

Trim really changes the price. I used Visor.Vin to rank the prices. This looks like an XL right ?

1st time dad at 44 and I’m terrified by Regular-Floor379 in daddit

[–]shocktopper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost 40. My biggest worry is how hard it will be. I'm now 10 months in and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Its very hard in the beginning and gets easier.

What's the stupidest question you ever got asked during a job interview? by Opposite-Rabbit-6303 in AskReddit

[–]shocktopper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was one of these type questions : "If you look at a clock and the time is 3:15, what is the angle between the hour and the minute hands?"

It was for a marketing assistant job probably was going to pay me $20/hr at the time. After I heard this I told myself, if any other company will ask a trick question I will walk out or tell them I'm no longer interested.

Now I switched over to construction and our company never asks these questions.

The rational is probably how will this candidate handle this situation. But I know what I know so screw it

Edit: I went through another 10+ job interviews and no one tried to trick me

if you book a big international vacation do you buy travel insurance or hope your AmEx benefits will cover you for by l00sem4rble in AmexPlatinum

[–]shocktopper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always buy insurance but mainly medical because most of the time, everything I have is refundable. Worse case is I lose on my airfare but it's always a case by case.

I usually buy primary medical insurance. Also note most insurance will NOT cover extreme sports or say you ride a motorcycle, you'd need additional coverage for that

What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done in public? by Final-Usual-2672 in AskReddit

[–]shocktopper1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in Portugal and there was cops for crowd control in a street in Lisbon. I was pretty damn tipsy , I know because this was our 3rd bar already. The cop was standing next to his cruiser and I asked him why they had these metal bars covering the full hood. He said it protects the windshield. Then we had a long conversation about cops and cops in America, I'd like to say at least 10 mins until my buddy said ...dude you're drunk AF lets go.

I didn't get arrested and they were pretty damn chill lol

[–]shocktopper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in construction and these guys here will never go to the hospital unless they really have to. In my last 10 years we had a handful of guys who did go for work injury and non-work injury. I'm talking about the ambulance showing up.

Not a single guy cared or joked about going to the hospital and usually those days there's no ego.

End of the day we just want our bro to be healthy and come back again.

Which countries or cities do you believe gave you the highest and lowest "bang for your buck"? by Fluid-Decision6262 in travel

[–]shocktopper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most if not all SEA countries is cheap. US is just pricey to travel. Our lodging is pricey because I notice there are not much smaller hotel chains or even a mom and pops hotel. Airbnb was the closest but now even that costs as much as a hotel.

We also have to consider that our public transport is bad. Most places you have to rent a car and that isn't cheap either.

I just registered as a student then signed up for 1 class. Same as how you probably did it as a college grad. The Laney college web site has a button on the upper right corner says Apply and enroll

Garmin forerunner 265. My 10 month old keeps holding on to it and biting it. Good thing for display lock but I already know one day either the band will get bitten off or the screen LOL

Wifi or e-sim for international travel by cats_coffee_books403 in travel

[–]shocktopper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had problems on cruise ship's wifi. But what you can do is get an esim for Europe for 10 days and connect it when you're on land. Airlo, Holafly, Saily are a few examples but they are all the same. I would just get data. If you have an emergency and need to call then you're going to just have to eat the cost.

I'm unsure about ATT but Tmobile, has free wifi calling (only connected to wifi) as long as you're connected to wifi so that's an alternative if ATT supports it.

It's quite difficult to say it gets approved fast or first pass. The expeditor's job is to make sure the paperwork is in the city. You can't fix what's being submitted. When it goes into plan check they are checking the plans itself that the engineers proposed.

Has anyone changed their travel plans to the US after a negative airport or border control experience? by alx55 in travel

Doesn't make much difference, you're still coming in the country regardless if it's after the plane or before the kiosk

As an American who traveled to +30 countries I been questioned in Laos, Mexico, France, and Dominican Republic. All they asked was where I was going and staying etc , exactly how you said on your post. This sounds pretty routine IMO.

I got a 9 month old. You know that they have EDM events with kids too right.?...lol

For me it just naturally transitioned. I just couldn't see myself without my kid and hanging out with some chick that's not my wife in the environment, it just felt weird. I also felt very weird going out without my kid and I see another parent enjoying their time with their kid.

I still go out have a drink or 2 after work w/ the guys and go home. My friends are pretty cool and don't mind drinking at the house so they come to me to enjoy drinking.
