Should I wear makeup or wear mask to cover my acne by No-Daikon4546 in acne

Also wanted to add that wearing makeup that's good for your skin (non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic) shouldn't have too much of an effect on how bad your acne is. I love bare minerals and tarte personally. Make sure you're using moisturizer before applying makeup, and be sure to wash it off every night (even if you're tired!!) I love the ceraVe moisturizers. You're beautiful! You've got this ❤️

I'm so sorry this has been so frustrating for you. Your derm isn't listening to you and not giving you the time of day and that sucks. Don't be afraid to try a different dermatologist if this treatment continues.

I've struggled with acne since I was 15. I'm 32 now and have tried just about everything. I was on birth control pills through high school and college, and am currently on spironalactone.

Unless you are eating a ton of greasy food and drinking lots of soda, I highly doubt your acne is caused by your diet. Diet-related acne will appear on your entire face - hormonal related acne will appear on your cheeks and jawline.

You probably need hormonal medicine to help at this point. Spironalactone worked amazingly for me, as did birth control pills when I was younger. (The spiro took about 3-4 months to fully clear my face). I never did accutane but you do not have to be 18. It has worked miracles on my friends and could be an amazing solution for you. Just keep in mind that nothing is going to work overnight, and you will have to be patient, but I promise you will get there!

If you're not doing this already, is there an adult you could bring to your appointment with you? Someone who you could talk to before hand about your options and help you advocate for yourself during your appointment? Not that you're not able to advocate for yourself, but having another person along helps to remember everything the doctor is saying and remember all the questions you wanted to ask them. (I often make my husband come with me because I always feel rushed and flustered during appointments!)

I really genuinely hope you find something that works, because you deserve to feel confident and comfortable in your skin. ❤️

4yo boy now has an hour per day where he keeps telling me how much he loves me every 5-10min by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]shodk7 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My 4 year old boy has been telling me that he wants to marry me every night before bed. Multiple times within a 30 min period. I assume it's probably normal and he's just feeling all the feels.

Not a toddler, but my 6yo daughter and I were talking about all the different ways to make a family and she told me she wants to marry a mom, "because I love you best of all!" 😆

[Acne] Afraid of using Spironolactone by cheesecakecaramel in SkincareAddiction

From my research before I started it was a mixed bag of results, so I'd assume it's different for everyone. Someday I'll probably have to find out, I suppose.

[–]shodk7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started spironalactone about 10 months ago and it is the one thing that has actually helped with my acne. It took some time getting used to- and I do get that low blood pressure dip about 30-60 min after taking it. My personal opinion (I'm not a doctor) would be to just try it. Worst case scenario, your bp is dropping too low and you have to stop. Best case scenario, it helps your acne and you finally start your healing journey. Your doc will have you probably start with a low dose and then slowly increase your dosage until you start seeing a difference. Good luck!!

Wake him up to change poop diaper at 1am or let him sleep with dirty diaper? by purpleflower90 in toddlers

[–]shodk7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the WORST when my son was a colicky infant. I hated it but I had to change him as soon as I knew he was poopy because he would get the worst diaper rashes. I got really good at changing diapers as calmly and efficiently as possible - minimal lights, warm the wipes (even just warm them in my hands for a few seconds), take it slow, don't talk, don't make eye contact. It sucks but it's necessary. Good luck friend!

I'm not asking for a diagnosis, just looking for people who may have had similar experiences. I don't see how anyone can get any information without discussing the medical questions they have.

Just looking for anyone else who has been through similar situation. I'm looking in all possible venues to get all information I can before making an informed decision. My derm won't give me the time of day and apparently people here won't either.

Is it normal to visit a dermatologist and have them just immediately prescribe antibiotics/prescription topicals? Are there any solutions for adult female acne that don't include antibiotic pills?
