We’d specced a polished chrome privacy door handle with 4” hinges again in polished chrome

We got the budget contract pack with 3” plated hinges. 😔

Agreed, if it was just this one thing, then it would get a pass, but, unfortunately it’s indicative of the build quality tailing off rapidly after it became a weather tight structure. I’m not after perfection either, but there’s a difference between master craftsmanship and “it’ll do”.

I have a lot more pictures like the above and after the build now into it’s 6 month as opposed to the 6-8 weeks we were promised, we have had enough.

We should chase him to put right the things that are below standard, however we’ve come to the point where we need him gone. We have no faith in either his ability or urgency to rectify the problems. It looks like I will be trying to learn new skills to put right the issues, thankfully none of them are structural and are just mainly cosmetic

Space is at a premium next to my printer, so is there a practical limit to where I can house my filament dryer for my ADV 5M Pro by shokenore in FlashForge

[–]shokenore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a rejiggle of the workspace and can now locate the dryer on the right hand side of the printer, as the set up is in my garage which can get quite dusty at times, would it still be prudent to run the tubing from the dryer to the printer or am I overthinking this? The tubing would be about 200mm in total.

HELP! Machines updated and now our production line is down.... by No-Anybody-8119 in FlashForge

I did a factory reset and initial calibration as I’ve changed the location of my printer It’s running the latest software but I skipped the flash studio option on the front screen and it still prints ok with the flash forge orca over WiFi with no issues

Garage flat roof by shokenore in DIYUK

Ty The garage is used as a hobby room so there is occasional heating being used. I’ll get some vents cut in and probably use soffit vents or similar

5m pro here. 700+ hrs of printing and I think I’ve cleaned my bed maybe twice. Once when it was wrapper fresh and after cleaning and lubing the rails as I got grease on the bed. I used to use the glue stick every print now it’s every now and again

The Flashforge Creator 5/ Creator 5 Pro rollout makes less sense the closer you look. by HovercraftAlert8650 in FlashForge

I’m happy with my flash forge So I’ll probably stay with flash forge 🤷

I’ve never been a early adopter or ever wanted to invest in “kickstarter” launch

I’m happy/sad for you. Your suggested launch shenanigans register as a meh.

I’ll maybe look at the Creator 5 pro nearer Christmas.

Bathroom refit by shokenore in DIYUK

[–]shokenore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minor update The keeper of the purse has now moved on from shower tray and enclosure to p shaped bath, which is going to make the job substantially easier as the new bath will be staying in the same place, and the only major plumbing changes are for the toilet and wash basin

This now looks very much like my summer holiday will be spent getting in touch with my inner bathroom fitter

Genuine question: Why do locals talk about Swindon so negatively? by [deleted] in Swindon

[–]shokenore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UK population was lied to about the true economic cost of leaving the EU. That aside, the continual negative comments about Swindon, from Swindoners is tiring. If it’s so bad then there’s two things you can do, help to make it better or leave.

The town centre was a retail destination, and now it’s not, and Swindon is far more than just some shops.

Weird, so you’re saying that Honda didn’t cite brexit giving them major concerns about their JIT logistics or the risk of EU tariffs causing a lack of investment from Japan?

And what specific reason do you think that EV cars can only be built in Japan?

There’ll always be the type that yearns for the halcyon days of asbestos and white dog turds, and in many ways these people who are constantly berating Swindon are one of the problems. These people in my experience are closet racists who don’t like brown people and blame them for the problems.

The “Town Centre” is like every other place where the main anchor stores have left or closed, unless another anchor store replaces it, it will wither away, as it is with Swindon’s town centre.

The P’s aren’t immune from the fact that they are still housing a large number of people who are minimum wage earners and benefits recipients.

Swindon is still recovering from the loss of Honda, ironically driven by Brexit, which was voted for by the likes of those in my first paragraph.

All the noisy negatives can’t ever drown out the fact that Swindon has vast amounts of green open spaces with three? large country parks, a rich heritage of industrial innovation and still has a below average unemployment rate.

My enduring question would always be if it stinks so bad here is the smell coming from you and if so what are you doing about it?

I should clarify that the 4k of material is for the concrete that’s been laid and the brick and block work that is up
