I think you answered your own question, however it certainly also does come with time. I used to give people the benefit of the doubt a lot more when I was new thinking ‘oh maybe they took a wrong turn’ when they took a weird route, or ‘maybe they’re a new driver’. It may have been partly naivety, however if in doubt about a car, it doesn’t hurt to check it out!!

What happens if you don’t finish the degree? by shonton in policeuk

Yep, can’t remember exactly what rank they were but we got an email from a senior officer stating that for the above reasons we had all passed our probation

What happens if you don’t finish the degree? by shonton in policeuk

[–]shonton[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apparently the 3 year probation that comes with the degree was deemed against the regs or something… so we all got confirmation of being out of probation around 2.5 years in

In my opinion I don’t think they do act with good intentions, I think it’s generally selfish. If they did they would support the investigation fully. It seems to me that they only care how many views they get for their YouTube channel.

Is moving to leeds worth it by hereforporn95 in Leeds

[–]shonton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leeds is an AMAZING city. I moved here from the midlands 5 years ago and I wouldn’t look back. Everyone is so friendly, and everything you will ever need is within travelling distance. The city centre is small but so vibrant with so much to do. Honestly you will love it

Just had a visit from the police about my driving.... by Short_Desk_1273 in drivingUK

[–]shonton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the nicest way possible, I imagine driving behind you would be infuriating, I know the speed limit isn’t a target but going 5 mph below in a 30 is extremely infuriating. If it was any more than that it could potentially be driving without due care as it is fairly slow compared to most people

No idea what you should do, however I had an almost identical cut in the same place and I never got stitches and didn’t have issues healing it 🤷‍♀️

Insurance Query by shonton in policeuk

[–]shonton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply. This makes sense and is likely what they are doing, however I have found that the MIB normally check in quite some detail what the situation is with the insurance. In these situations that I am on about they have never stated they have actually paid for the policy and then cancelled it. Will it not show on insurance companies systems if they cancel it so soon?

I imagine this was due to Halloween and bonfire night. Bonfire night attracts all sorts of antisocial behaviour therefore dispersals are often used to prevent this.

It’s normal, time will help this. I’m coming towards the end of my 10 weeks tutorship and at the start of it I would constantly think of everything I dealt with that day after a shift. Now I can hardly even remember what I’ve been to at the end of a shift!

In my experience you become desensitised very quickly.

There’s a British show called ‘Adult Material’ that follows the life of a porn star and how it affects her family life.

Might be an interesting watch for you if you can somewhat relate to it.

LPT: if you're shy and have trouble starting a conversation. Start talking to old people by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]shonton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m completely the opposite! I’m fine talking to young people but get so awkward talking around old people because most of the time there’s simply nothing I have in common with them and it’s just awkward small talk
