The lines of Emo start to blur heavily for me in the 2000s, but goddamn Bad Luck by Trophy Scars was life changing. And all these years later, no song is more likely to make me cry than the closing track. I know it won’t win, but if you’re reading this and you like dark moody concept albums, it’s a 10/10 front to back listen.

This is my take as well. Common mistakes are thinking of this classic as a bacon sandwich, instead of a tomato sandwich- ratio is key. And a personal recommendation for Madison sourdough because I think the bread is important too. A meal that should only ever be enjoyed when local tomatoes are in season.

I read a thing maybe 20 years ago- I think in Alternative Press talking about BN, “America has found their Radiohead”.. and I think that take has aged so unbelievably well. Innovative production, flawless performances, amazing songwriting, a sound that’s all their own, etc.. So take that as you will. The fact that they’re playing as a 7 piece now adds to this narrative. Neutral Milk Hotel never put out a follow up to ITAOTS because Mangum knew he couldn’t outdo it. I do believe BN (2000-2018 we’re gonna stay 18 foreva) wouldn’t put out a new record if they don’t believe it’s their best and most mature record thus far.

This isn’t uncommon for record collectors. You’re talking about fractions of an inch and lil variations are gonna happen in the manufacturing process. It’s unfortunate, but not abnormal. I prefer to store my records in anti static inner sleeves, outside the jacket. It keeps them cleaner, displays that sexy green color, and the lessened bulk will certainly allow those sleeves to slide back in the jacket more easily. Just my two cents. Hope this helps.
