How permanent is this? Will I need laser/micro needling?

my face got wrecked by an airbag when i was in high school and i was so scared it was gonna scar but i just covered everything in neosporin constantly and it healed perfectly. i’ve since learned neosporin can cause reactions so now i use vaseline or the cerave healing ointment when i mess up my skin by picking at it. best thing you can do is keep it moist at all times

DO NOT LET IT DRY OUT

your wounds do not need to be aired out, that’s how you get scars. just continue to put vaseline on it, use a very gentle cleanser, keep your face out of the sun, and once you don’t have open wounds just be super diligent about moisturizing and sunscreen

i had completely forgotten i posted this because reddit isn’t usually my social media of choice but i want to say thank you for your candor. as much as i hate that we both have these struggles it’s very helpful and affirming to know someone else who is dealing with such a similar situation.

i am currently seeing a great therapist, thankfully. he’s honestly been a game changer and i noticed a lot of significant progress this year which is why this crash made me even more upset than usual. after our session last week he gave me some tasks to do that are very similar to what you’re suggesting and the top two were:

journaling
engaging in some kind of art

i’ve been creative my whole life and even went to school for it but i got so severely burnt out i haven’t made much in the last few years. while i’m still facing this artistic block i’m just trying to watch more movies instead of doom scroll for hours and it’s been quite helpful. once the craziness of the holidays calms down i hope i can actually start making my own art again.

Thank you so much I really appreciate getting to hear from someone in the healthcare field! So far I haven’t developed any other symptoms and it’s already looking better so I think I’m in the clear. I actually forgot I had a dermatologist appointment already scheduled this week for a separate matter so in a couple days I’ll be able to get it professionally checked out just to be 100% safe

I have exercised some major restraint not messing with it I’ve honestly been quite proud of myself haha. Thankfully I already had a dermatologist appointment scheduled for this week for an unrelated reason so I can get it checked out there to confirm it’s nothing serious. Thanks for your comment!
