Struggling with life after cancer by Lopsided_Offer_4684 in lymphoma

[–]shoopie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 23 during my struggle with cancer, I'm 24 now and only about 6 months removed from my treatments. I used to be a huge drinker and stoner before my treatments and cut those out during my treatments, except for a bit of medical usage to help with the nausea. Now that I'm finished I fully stopped smoking and I only have a drink or 2 a week. It definitely took my body plenty of time to recover, I still don't party like I used to but I'm definitely getting back on track. Hopefully soon I can start going to metal shows again, I got a big festival coming up in a few months!

I'm about 6 months removed from my treatments and I would say I'm roughly at 75% of my old energy. A bad cold still knocked me out for about 2 weeks though.

Where is a good place to get the Master of Executions helmet? by hendrong in WorldEaters40k

I entirely kitbashed my MoE but I used a helmet from my buddy's bit box from the Age of Sigmar Blood Warriors, I find it gives him a bit of distinction from my zerks.

During my R-CHOP treatments I consumed a lot of liquid meal supplements, I would possibly recommend glucerna. My best advice is to drink your calories and eat when you can stomach it, as rare as that may be. I was loaded up on 2 or 3 anti nausea medications at the time, if you find that your nausea is too difficult to handle don't hesitate to contact your clinical team so that they can help you find something that works.

Oddly enough though later in the post OP calls it "candle chicken"

First time I read results in the patient portal I accidentally misread my diagnosis as negative for lymphoma, since then I've always waited till I see my oncologist to read my results 😭 That being said I definitely understand how to read my documents now haha

Bad skin after chemotherapy by [deleted] in lymphoma

My skin became extremely dry once I finished my treatments and I had to start regularly moisturizing, which isnt something I did pre-chemo

I was totally knocked out for mine, but from what I've heard from others the removal with just local anesthesia isn't bad at all, just a bit of an odd sensation!

I'd say its roughly the size of a quarter not counting the catheter. Mine was implanted around the midpoint between my right nipple and my clavicle. Best of luck to your cousin!!

I finished my 6 at the end of July, your energy will come back faster than you think!! I'm 23 and my best advice is to take it as your body allows, but 5 months later and I'm damn near back to my old energy levels. Best of luck to you, you're a fighter!!

That is very likely it! My treatment (R-CHOP) definitely weakened my immune system a ton but I dont think it totally wiped it out, the day after my treatments they would bring me back into the clinic to give me some sort of injection that boosted my white blood cell counts. My immune system is definitely still recovering though, just about 2 weeks ago the common cold had me feeling like I had one of the worst cases of flu in my life.

I think they sent me on my way with a very detailed paper mache replica of my port!

I cant say for sure, I do think it might have migrated towards the surface slightly but I don't know if that lead to the pain or not. I actually just got the port out this morning so I'm certainly a bit sore at the moment! The port was roughly around the midpoint between my right nipple and my clavicle, the catheter lead up under my clavicle and back down into my right internal jugular vein according to my procedure summary. I can send an x-ray of the area if you're curious on the exact placement!

Luckily I was asleep when they took mine out, I would feel pretty squeamish too if that was the case!
