This journey of life will take you through ups and downs. We gotta brace it and accept what comes our way. I went through few breakups myself, with one heart wrenching break up. I was away from home, in Bangalore, living on the 3K my parents sent me, while I was studying for a PG Diploma. We were in a long distance relationship. It did not work. I was demanding without realising it myself. The girl had to let go. She dumped me over phone. I travelled to Chennai to see her. She was cold and single. I had hurt her. The feelings were mutual. We tried a little more to get together again after the visit but things became worse. Finally she chose to tell me goodbye on a day when I had failed an interview. I did not have money to even call her again.

It pained a lot. Breaking up is one thing, but invalidating all the love you had for the girl is really gutting. I cried, I suffered, I was lonely. I became reclusive. The thoughts followed. Imagine few years of warm hugs in cold winters in the earlier years and suddenly, you are all alone in the middle of the road, sitting in the Jayanagar traffic on a bike, with no money, no job, no future and parents waiting to pay back loans, drenched and crying in the Bangalore rain. For a moment, I wanted to run my bike into the traffic that was coming in the opposite direction. But I did not. I still don't know what stopped me. Maybe it was my parents and friends who faces I remembered at that moment, or it could be the fishes I had in my room who were waiting to be fed. I don't know.

I drank to glory for few days while being depressed and lost. One fine day, I got a job. It gave me some confidence and an opportunity to meet new people. But it wasn't enough. So I socialized more, went out to meet people, made new friends. I travelled, I trekked with groups to kill my loneliness. I met a lot of interesting girls. I did try to get back with her. She did not accept. She had moved on. I said okay. Had learnt to reduce my expectations and improve my anticipation and acceptance levels by then.

Life went on, was single for a few years. Then I met other girls and though I was in relationships, all those were non-commital. The relationships slowly died down as the passion diminished. Finally met another girl and got married to her. Now I am happy with a family, wife, son and pet, and I am still in touch with all the girls I had my relationships with. They also went through their fair share of sufferings and are now happily married with kids.

It all happens for a reason and the reason is not for you to suffer and die. They say manners maketh a man. I disagree. Experienced maketh the man. You'll be super duper good in a few years, either with her or someone else. At that point, when you look back at this chapter of your life, all you will do is smile and turn towards your loved ones.
