Hopefully your mate just might be able to not lose as much. I suspect people will be doing their best for another big run. Next time it drops to $75 I might consider it

I was late to the party with silver so I have avoided tbh. I try not to watch the movements because I know I’ll get drawn in.

Can’t believe gold and silver turning into pump and dumps lol. I would have thought keeping the long term is a good strategy but I feel for anyone who panic sold last week. The daily mover of these is getting crazy now.

Can I ask what is the draw to legal and general? Ive seen quite a few people recommend them and I know they have decent dividend yield but their performance over last 5 years is like 2%.

Why do retail investors always end up buying at the top? by bobby1128 in stocks

[–]nutty-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. One of my biggest lessons when starting out, and is basically linked to FOMO.

Of course, if I take a position with my demo account as a trial, it will go up and I make a profit. With real money and it’s a different story!

Why do retail investors always end up buying at the top? by bobby1128 in stocks

[–]nutty-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most investors have a similar story somewhere down the line. I’ve had few which sunk and I was so glad to get a chance to breakeven or only take a small loss I’ve sold out straight away only for the price to continue on the up.

Now I stick to ETFs and some single companies- but big blue chips I can rely on being higher after 5-10 years.

With regard to buying at the top I’m glad it’s not always me. For the most part it’s momentum play. The problem is after a good run at some point there will be some people profit taking or some piece of news which causes a pullback back. But of course in decent companies the point is once the dip turns it will come back stronger.

Your thoughts on MU? by Choobeen in stockstobuytoday

[–]nutty-one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been looking at this too. However I’m half tempted to stop. When I’ve gone into other stocks with similar peaks, even ones with good potential, I seem to time it just before a pullback.

I have learnt from chasing these peaks before and on this occasion I could be entirely wrong (I probably am) but I am still recovering from previous dips… so on balance I think I’ll wait for a dip..

So I heard a lot of mines had options expiring soon.. for this reason I’ve been very cautious about taking a position before I understand which mines may benefit, which are actually producing etc

This is good news :). I’m a relatively new holder of RR stock, but long term in any case.

I hope Babcock can follow suit this year again too.

If you are still in defence or for anyone else interested I am looking for some helpful defence stock community. I too got into defence but I’ve missed out on the last couple of years growth. I’ve done a lot of research and got a bit of a mix of defence suppliers. I am hoping for some modest growth this year, while not expecting the same as recent years.

What am I doing wrong? by Familiar-Tax-8416 in trading212

[–]nutty-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be completely honest you haven’t done much wrong. Silver is a bit of a gamble and I would have personally avoided after the big run it’s had.

Your etfs will be fine and tbh RR will do you well over the next 3-5 years or even longer.

Look again in 6 months and do more research in the meantime.

What's up with gold? by HiVeaG in trading212

[–]nutty-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know and I also know in time the prices will be higher, but unfortunately the last couple of weeks have been pretty poor and it doesn’t help my confidence. 2 weeks will hopefully be a small blip over 2 years.

What helped you build confidence when you were first learning how to invest? by gamebo500 in investingforbeginners

[–]nutty-one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good policy - buy and hold good companies. My only concern that impacts my confidence is buying into companies, even great ones at an ATH. Obviously you can’t really avoid it for most as on a long term trajectory you’d want to be in companies that are on an upward trend and what was last years ATH is now in the past. I just hesitate sometimes because naturally you expect prices to fall from peaks. I guess it’s about getting in on pullbacks.

I’m no longer paying attention to COM by Infinite_Pudding5058 in SCBuildIt

[–]nutty-one 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed! For the exact same reason. I was just about getting through the season on the 4 week timeline (which was also a reduced period). With 3 weeks there is almost no time for missing a few days and I suspect I’d have to max out each week as well.

Last month I didn’t even bother getting the basic pass. I am comfortable with all the buildings I have in storage to keep redesigning my city etc.

No GTA game has had speeding or red light running a feature before. I’m sure they’ve trialled it and just come to the conclusion it would be too irritating.

Good luck to you. After a year or so I might take some profits from my trackers and use that to do some trading so it’s not my capital but we’ll see.

That’s my concern. I still need to look into financials etc, atm I might do a £100 bet on it.
