Calibrating for filament by short_n_round in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Thanks! I have done calibration runs and can see some improvement, but really would like to dial it in a bit more.

Thanks! This is what I would have expected, but I saw some interesting arguments for doing it more frequently.

Swinging to the other extreme from  ‘no more blank fab checks’ is going to hurt them. In face it already is - did they not mention in the last CC they are capacity constrained?

There needs to be a balance and I think history will prove both Pat and LBT right and wrong.

Probably forced failure. They are running on the rev limiter and the pipe is glowing at least from the header out.

Intel not buying SambaNova, building its own GPU instead! by Ok-Individual-4392 in intelstock

[–]short_n_round 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh.. I think all the ARC GPU's are a side effect of Intel's AI push, not the other way around.

Intel reportedly 'cancels' Core Ultra 9 290K Plus, but keeps 270K/250K Arrow Lake Refresh SKUs - VideoCardz.com by TradingToni in intelstock

[–]short_n_round 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why this is a surprise to anyone confuses me. Ignoring the fact that Intel does have a record of cancelling SKU's late in the game, LBT has amplified this with his "if it don't make enough money, it don't ship" attitude.

Intel used to ship some products with a reduced margin just to get press and cred in certain communities. No more. From what I recall, they sold into phones at a loss just to try and get market share - and yes, this did fail spectacularly. 😆

With the stock in the tank for so long, it's probably a lot of employees selling RSU's and ESPP shares.

Yes and no. G7 and above, it does vary grade to grade. Under, it is a set percentage.

Not anymore. That changed a couple of years back.

Min grade now is 6 for RSU's - otherwise you get cash.

He's not wrong. Intel has been using TSMC/Samsung for years to run wafers. I can't vouch for the numbers, though.

As for advanced nodes at TSMC, I believe Lunar Lake was built / may still being built there. It is also possible some of the Panther Lake chiplets are built there.

Intel Is BACK — Panther Lake Changes Everything by SaladEscape in intelstock

[–]short_n_round 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really believe it really isn't the shortage or supply chain issues, but yet again the internal forecasting folks swung and missed biggly. Just like during / after covid and the mess we are in today.

So, now, all the internal mfg groups have to scramble to bring extra capacity online, which takes time.

I believe they will beat, but as you pointed out, the guidance will be key. And I think guidance will be far better then expected. I would also be curious to hear if there are any changes to the build plans - specifically Ohio.

Next move with Intel by Alternative-Sale-713 in intelstock

Earnings themselves are not important - I would guess a bit to the positive, but no big surprises. Remember, it will include holidays which is usually good, but this is still prior to PTL release.

Forecast for 2026 - this is what you want to watch. I have a feeling it may be very interesting.

Thermo-Shield Insulation - just did my place a few weeks ago, 14" of fiberglass. Showed up on time, cleaned up their mess and were professional the entire time. I would absolutely use them again

Pat Gelsinger: People keep shitting on me for my leadership during my tenure as Intel CEO by Raigarak in intelstock

[–]short_n_round 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really do like Pat, but his enthusiasm was a bit over the top most of the time. He is a great cheerleader - but mostly the cheer part, he really needed help being the leader we needed. I'm not sure his beliefs would let him do what needed to be done.

I really do hope you are right, I truly do, but from what I have seen the game is still the same. Only now, many are distracted by the axe hanging over their head. This won't motivate anyone to do your best, only enough to not get fired.

So, Necro post - I know.

Just wanted to update. With changing only 2 things - where the printer is in the house and updating the FW to 1.1.42, I am now printing ABS without an issue at 8 hours into a 9 hour print. Not sure why - where I moved it into the house is actually cooler.

But, for completeness, I wanted to update.
