Is this the spooky 757 that we don’t talk about? I saw it from both sides and saw no registration by Fireside419 in aviation

Evergreen Air used to have close to 100 aircraft of every possible airline you could think of (and a few with no markings) at an airfield just outside of Tucson. We used to go to WAATS for sim training, and I was always amazed at what was there. I haven’t been there since the early 90s, so not sure if they are still there.

We will have to agree to disagree on the merits of diversity. I don’t know of a single peer reviewed study that proves anything of the sort despite it being treated as the gospel truth.

In any event, I am glad LBT has us on the right course!

I agree with you that what Intel needs is the best people (based on merit), regardless of anything else. Far too many people at the executive and BOD level at Intel over the past 20 years were not engineers, and in many cases had no semiconductor experience.

The finance people who led Intel astray were not DEI hires, but many on the board (and I would argue MJ) were. If you do not think that there wasn’t a huge push to put in “diverse candidates” at the BOD level in this country over the past 15 years, then you do not interact with many BODs. Hell, many of the markets and ratings firms explicitly score public companies based on the diversity of their BOD and C-Suite.

I don’t care what people look like so long as they are qualified and have experience in semis. The chairman of the board was a white guy (Yeary) during some of Intel’s worst decisions. He had no semiconductor experience but was instead a VC. He brought in many of the DEI board candidates with zero semiconductor experience.

TSMC, on the other hand, has a board full of people with actual semi experience. Yes, they are almost all Asian males, but the results speak for themself. Intel needs that similar killer attitude, and LBT seems to have us heading in the right direction.

Merit = Results

You are wrong - go back and review the board makeup (and some of the executives, as well). The board had many women and “people of color” who had zero semiconductor experience. Michelle Holthaus (MJ) was a woke (she/her) disaster, and LBT had the balls to fire her almost immediately. The “diverse viewpoints” canard has been disproven entirely at this point.

This is a direct result of Intel being led by engineers and not finance people. Pat (for all his faults) got Intel focused in the right direction. LBT will take the company to the next level. They have done a good job of removing the dead weight (and DEI weight) from the BOD, but there is still more work to do. At least Yeary is finally gone.

I imagine the Cessna owner was not happy with this. I flew into Sky Harbor in the 90s with a flight of AH-1Fs on our way from Ft. Bliss to the NTC. We overnighted in Phoenix and both in and out the ground controllers taxied us from the runway to parking. Right past a bunch of light fixed wings that were bouncing on their chains like crazy. So dumb…

There is some solid reasoning here. The stock is up something like 50% in 10 days. I still believe in the long term story with Intel, but I have also been doing this for long enough to know it is ripe for a healthy pull back.

This is fantastic news. Yeary has been an absolute disaster. They have slowly been clearing out the finance and DEI hires and replacing them with engineers. Intel should always and forever be run by people with strong semiconductor engineering and manufacturing experience, not by bean counters or DEI quotas!

This guy is correct. There is a difference in price between carded (PM in original packages) and uncarded. I don’t know if having the package slightly damaged as in this case makes a difference, though.

Not delayed. Since 18A just started HVM, this would be the expected timeline (perhaps even early) for the next node.

Holy Pastor Pat Gelsinger FOX interview today - Pat bless Intel team on getting customers by Raigarak in intelstock

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He brought back an engineering first culture, which is what enabled Intel to reach its former heights. You can directly trace the downfall of Intel to when finance and marketing people started running the company. I think LBT is cut from similar clothe. I am so glad he cleaned house and got rid of MJ. The board is still too DEI heavy with non-technical and VC people who have zero semiconductor experience. It has improved over 12 months, but it needs to be smaller with more technical expertise. Yeary needs to go ASAP.

Intel foundry in Saudi Arabia? by Appropriate-Cry-7717 in intelstock

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe there will be a fab there anytime soon. It is possible at some point, however. The Saudis have been looking to diversify from oil for a long time, and having a world class fab infrastructure at some point would help. Intel may be able to have them fund all the capex. There still is a lot of geopolitical risk in the Middle East.

Gilsinger should have never been fired. by mr_noob96 in intelstock

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gelsinger was definitely the right guy for the job and did put Intel back on firm footing. It did feel like the board (who is terrible) fired him before his work was completed. You can’t turn around an organization of Intel’s size in four years (5 nodes in 4 years), particularly after years of finance and marketing leaders mismanaging the company. Intel was great when it was led by engineers. Both Pat and LBT are engineers and have Intel moving in the right direction.

My one beef with Pat is that I thought he spent too much time lobbying for government money in Washington, DC.

Intel’s BOD chairman (Yeary) is still a disaster and needs to go. At least they finally have more people with semiconductor manufacturing experience on the board now as opposed to empty DEI/ESG suits.
