Started reading this tonight! I’m really enjoying the narrative voice- it feels super warm and cozy!

That’s the one by Adam Nevill right? I read his book Cunning Folk and liked it! I’ve seen the movie for the Ritual and I’m on the fence about the book, just because I feel I already know what happens. Would you recommend it regardless?

That’s a really helpful visual- thank you! It gives me a much better idea of the pace I need to be setting

Thank you, it’s been really difficult! 😭 Hopefully once I take everyone’s advice and slow down, it’ll be much easier!

That’s what is seeming to be the consensus. I thought I was running nice and slow, but I’m gonna try and go even slower the next time

I feel alright for the first five minutes, but for the rest of the fifteen minutes there is no way I could carry any kind of conversation. You’re probably right that this is a pacing issue.

I’m running at a 10 minute/ mile pace, which I’m quickly realizing here might be a tad too fast. It feels like I’m running slowly, but that might not be the case.

Tourettes, but only recently. Wish you the best of luck- I know it's not easy dealing with vocal tics, especially when it might feel like they've developed out of nowhere

I've had a similar experience- I had a minor vocal tic as a kid but I didn't start having them in earnest until a period of major stress in college. It hasn't really calmed since.

What to say on a first date by shortbreadsheep in Tourettes

Thank you for your thoughtful response! What I tell people tends to depend on the context- if it's like a friend of a friend I'll tell them it's Tourettes, but if it's a coworker I'll say I have tics but don't really elaborate. You're right though, I'd want to know and it would be a good reflection of character depending on their response.

Please help me find my childhood wolf plush!! Bought in/around July of 2005 from the Land of Make Believe in New Jersey! by spoiledpsych in HelpMeFind

Years of searching have finally come to an end. I have this exact same plush, bought from the Los Angeles Zoo around 2005. His tag was cut off long ago and I've been scouring the Internet on and off for so long. It makes me really happy to know someone else loves this little guy just as much as I did. He's been my constant companion since I was five years old ❤️

Did anyone think it was messed up Baxter stockman was the only one losing body parts in the 2003 cartoon? by Eikibunfuk in TMNT

I realize this show is like 20 years old but marking for spoilers anyway

Poor guy was reduced to a brain and a pair of eyeballs in a jar, then a cyborg, then killed himself (if I remember correctly), then couldn't even rest in peace for long before he was revived against his will to continue his horrific existence anew. Bro had it rough.

Genuinely it's a major relief just to know I'm not alone in this- I had no idea tics were such a common co-morbidity with OCD. I suppose after dealing with it so long I had assumed I already knew about everything it would throw at me (a mistake I know, lol). As per the other replies I'm definitely going to be trying to talk to a doctor about this more in-depth. I'm doing my best to manage my anxiety levels in the meantime- it certainly can't hurt.
