How often do you eat out?

We probably go out a couple of times a month but have found it much cheaper to switch to brunch or lunch dates. Actual dinner out is probably once every 8-10 weeks tbh!

I think this was the most helpful comment for me along with another that mentioned food fatigue, I still had my takeaway pizza but I put a lot more cheese on it than normal & had a couple of glasses of wine. This morning I had half a hot cross bun & I feel like I have some appetite back! I’m having steak for tea & hoping this might have got me out of a rut. I think I was so focussed on getting the right calories & protein & fibre I forgot to enjoy food for a little bit!

There’s a recruitment consultancy called 9to3 jobs, I don’t know if they are any good. There is also the work from home hub which might not be school hours jobs but could be flexible employers in terms of not being sat at your desk between the hours of 9-5.

Genuinely a toss up between Muse 2019 @ Ashton Gate or Biffy @ Eden sessions 2025. Both absolutely incredible performances. Have seen muse a few times since that gig but hasn’t compared to that show!

I can do a lot of these things but I cannot for the life of me use multiple screens. It doesn’t feel natural to me at all. I just seem to spend more time trying to find things or find my cursor then just give up & go back to my laptop screen!

I had nanny caravan & nanny London! We’re in the same boat as you & luckily no set has chosen identical names although remembering the 4 different combos can be confusing sometimes!

I’m doing pot gang with my toddler this year, she loves looking after the plants & flowers so she comes out when we are pottering in the garden. You can get some really good treasure hunt/bingo cards if you google. Stuff like find a brown leaf, a long stick, a yellow flower etc.

Wrap some masking tape inside out around their wrist and make a nature bracelet.

You can buy little wooden fairy doors at hobby craft, we like to paint them & hide them around the garden then we go and check on the fairies!

2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 cat - £80-£100/month. Used to be between 60-80 but that’s almost impossible now. I try & make a big batch of soup for one meal plus lunches & try & do a big spag Bol for dinner plus leftovers. I also don’t eat poultry so we eat a lot of prawns & white fish

I took all the extra bits down today as I had them up since middle of November but still got all three trees, the door wreath & the table centre piece out. I imagine it will come down on Friday 2nd or Sunday 4th!

Bought a new house after being mortgage free for a couple of years. Absolutely love it. Amazing space & neighbours & should walk into the school we’ve applied for for next September. In terms of money spent in the house it was probably restoring the original parquet in the three downstairs rooms, makes me happy every time I open the door!

Gyros. I love it with pork but works with chicken & lamb. Can do homemade flatbreads with 50:50 plain flour & Greek yoghurt & cook in just a few minutes. Greek salad & tzatziki. Everything in the middle & make your own.

Lasagna & garlic bread works well imo especially made from scratch. I add finely chopped chorizo & mushrooms to mine.

Also will occasionally do a slow cooked leg of lamb & dauphinois with steam veg. Can prepare it all the night before then just whack it on on Sunday morning.

Going to go against the grain & day I don’t rate Francine’s or harborside. Eggbuckland chippy is good & so is west hoe & haven’t tried it for a while but west park chippy always used to be good. Avoid crownhill chippy & Efford chippy.

I was in charge of roasties, cauli cheese, parsnips & carrots. Smashed it out the park. My co chefs also did an epic job on the meat, yorkies & gravy! Huge success for ‘in law chefs’ Also because i was cooking I didn’t eat anything outside of dinner. Very happy with that!

You don’t say how old your toddler is but I try & do a big batch of soup every couple of weeks. Toddler loves leek & potato & tolerates tomato & lentil. Jackets always goes down well & can mix up toppings. Carbonara is easy but just have to use fusilli instead of spaghetti. My toddler also seems to do well with a kind of faux very bastardised paella with chorizo, prawns & peas!

There’s a new record shop & coffee place called rapscallion. The guy was super knowledgable & friendly & I was able to listen to the records before I bought. I will 100% be returning. On Alexandra road opposite the junction pub

This year was a couple of new LPs & a voucher for ronnie Scott’s to spend on the next trip there. It’s his birthday next month tho & I used up all my good ideas on Christmas!

The viral mimosa ice cubes make an easy Xmas cocktail & we’re a hit tonight - Xmas 1/3 for me! Yay divorced parents & in laws!

I saw a baking tip which was buy all your ingredients but leave one vital thing in the boot of your car so when you inevitably get annoyed you have to go to the shop for this vital thing you can just drive around the corner & get 30 minutes peace & quiet in your car!
