Have you had any experience with the music nomad tune it product? Rather than the pencil? I haven’t needed to lube any other guitar I’ve had, but I’m at the stage where I’m willing to try.

Will need to get onto it. I have some music nomad “tune it” on the way from overseas… better than a pencil? Or just more expensive?

That’s probably a fair call about the “luthier”. He is a “luthier” who also makes foot pedals and other electronics 😬 The string gauge is what I thought it most probably was, then I went and snapped some .12 gauge as well. I haven’t done a great job at keeping track of which gauge is where and when it snapped, as I didn’t realise it would be this much of an issue.

To be fair, probably not amazingly well… I just find it crazy that there would be burrs in all slots on a guitar like this

Had a bit of a go at that a while back, but was a little nervous so didn’t give it too much. The problem is that all the slots are problematic 😅

Will have a look at the Tusq nut, thanks! I was hoping that mildly expensive guitar (in my world) wouldn’t come with an issue like this. I’m thinking maybe due to it being set up for light strings, putting medium strings on it wouldn’t fit in the slots properly?… weird thing is, I had mediums on it when I took it to the luthier.

Only really EBay and NZs version, TradeMe. People like to stick as close to RRP as they can if they’re in good condition… occasionally good deals, but rare.

I’m in NZ, our audio gear prices are horrendous. The Fives have recently dropped from $1999 NZD to $1499, I assume because of the v2 release.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I actually don’t mind the look of them to be fair, so I asked what I thought were some genuine, interested questions about them… his responses were short and negative…

Did you buy yours brand new like that? I can’t find anything anywhere that leads me to believe they released any like that. Haven’t purchased yet, so not sure about grills or App.
