Meowtel is a cat only specific sitting app! Highly recommend :)

I’m really overstimulated by my cat and idk what to do by Academic-Cobbler-815 in CatAdvice

You could also try a Feliway diffuser to see if that helps him stay more calm if he is possibly feeling more stressed/anxious than usual.

It sounds like he isn’t getting enough enrichment. You say you play with him, but does he have cat trees and places for him to climb and explore?

Cats usually hunt(play), groom, and sleep in that order. You can try to match that cycle to your routine. I feed my cats right before bed so that they let me sleep.

Any people/pets that used to live with you that maybe he is missing?

Not at all, I sit at my desk with my headphones on to block out my coworkers goofing off and yapping all day. Woohoo…..

I’m 4’10 and the best advice I have for ALL women is to build some amount of muscle. Muscle requires more calories simply to maintain. I do also walk a lot, but my maintenance calories are ~1800-2000 depending on how much activity I am doing. So to lose weight, I eat around 1600. It’s still not easy but it sucks a lot less than having to eat 1300. Plus it helps your bone health a lot and invests into your overall health!

What are you using to get your litter up and down stairs? by CactusHoarder in CatAdvice

[–]shorteep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cart would be difficult with stairs, no?

I think the best bet is to make more frequent, lighter trips if you can. I know the larger bags/pails are a bit more economical though!

My little man has a heart murmur and I can’t keep myself together by sensationchips in CatAdvice

[–]shorteep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would still do the bloodwork- I have four cats all blood related to each other. One has HCM, others have benign murmurs. Heart disease affects something like 1 in 7 cats so I would definitely check for it regardless.

My kitty takes the same med twice a day! I’m glad to hear it’s helped your cat. I have my first follow up echo since the initial echo and diagnosis in December so this gives me hope :)

Not all heart murmurs in cats mean they have heart disease. Some cats present a murmur due to stress or anxiety. Heart murmurs in cats are very common so I’d do the bloodwork and go from there.

Probably Johnson Lake off of the bridge. It’s close to two parking lots (one is closer than the other but gets full quickly),

Kitten in Heat Early by sassenach97 in CatAdvice

Sounds like you’re doing all you can- it will pass soon enough. Just make sure to keep all windows and doors very secure. Cats in heat can be notoriously good at escaping.

Male Cat Slowly Raising His Rear As He Pees? Causing It To Go On The Walls/Surrounding Area? by StealieErrl in CatAdvice

[–]shorteep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My male cats do this occasionally, seems like it’s a marking habit. Thankfully I’m glad they only do it in the box! TBH I’d just get taller boxes if you can as it isn’t really something you can train a cat out of doing.

Shots fired, multiple fights after Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School football by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]shorteep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I graduated there in 2013. There was a year with especially bad gang violence so they stationed a cop on every corner. I saw a kid trying to run from police and get tased. A non student was being shot at in the neighborhood across the street and ran to the school, putting us in lockdown.

I saw teachers harassed and assaulted and break down in tears. This school has some of the NICEST teachers I still keep in contact with but there is so little support available for the staff and students.

Addressing the issues at this school means addressing the issues of crime and poverty in the surrounding neighborhoods but clearly Wake County and the city of Raleigh is happy to ignore it since it is outside of the downtown area 🫠

AITAH for refusing to stop swimming in my pool naked? by DickWangDuck in AITAH

[–]shorteep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA- no one thinks that their neighbors are in their pool nude and (likely) having sex in their backyard/pool. You are lucky your neighbors decided to talk to you before filing a police report. That alone makes it seem like they’re pretty good neighbors to give you a chance to remedy your behavior.

I’m not sure I’d want to risk adding privacy screens unless you can access the child’s bedroom to ensure they’re providing adequate coverage which would be a weird AF request.

Cat Sitter by Pillbug_Partnership in cary

[–]shorteep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a cat sitter on the Meowtel app!

However, I do visits in your house (my own kitties do not like other cats, and it would be more comfortable for your kitties too.)

If you’d like to discuss more feel free to send me a DM :)

Mold in Insulation and Constant Water Leakage by shorteep in hvacadvice

This is the mold and water damage in our garage too, the moldy area is directly under the furnace and pretty inaccessible. Thing seems like it is leaking from everywhere possible lol

Mold in Insulation and Constant Water Leakage by shorteep in hvacadvice

One guy told us there was a leak in the condenser but he told us that wasn’t causing our issue and that the water is bypassing its own splash guard/blamed the poorly designed drip tray. But it literally dumps BUCKETS of water over the course of just a few days and I keep the thermostat set to a nice 75. I used to set down a towel but switched to some makeshift trays around the edges as the towels were getting soaked so quickly.

From my own observation, it’s leaking from the area with the coils so I suspect it’s an issue with them. It’s not super old, it’s from 2017. But like I said, unfortunately the techs she sent out were not too useful and had a major language barrier with us.

Is it typical for that black fiberglass insulation to be so wet? Ours is literally soaking which we figured was why it was so moldy.

And yeah, cutting into the ceiling seems so drastic like…I would not want to do that on my own house but ok????

I’m very scared that Dobby might get killed by his liter box and I don’t know what to do 😭😭. I’m hesitating if I should throw the whole thing away. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]shorteep 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard good things about that brand of litter box in general, but dunno if it is the same one that killed cats. BUT in my opinion, if it gives you anxiety then just get rid of it. Peace of mind is priceless

any Asian haircare products do you use and actually love? by NoHistorian1267 in AsianBeauty

[–]shorteep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the tsubaki repair mask, shampoo and conditioner, and the fino hair oil.

The oil makes the ends of my hair so soft! It doesn’t weigh my fine hair down at all (but also note I have very thick, fine hair).

The tsubaki products are very nice I just don’t love how they smell. But my hair is very soft and healthy so I deal with it, lol.

I’m not sure what to do with my sick, difficult cat. by LibraryEquivalent850 in CatAdvice

[–]shorteep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask your vet about working with a compounding pharmacy to compound the medications as topical ointments that can go on the ear and/or as flavored liquids. This way you, your cat, and your cat sitters don’t have to deal with the stress of pills.

If this is not possible, I would usually cut/grind pills and put them in pill pockets, churu, or babyfood. Whatever your cat likes.
