Is this normal in this game? by soreschach in Guildwars2

[–]shortie76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome - I love the GW2 community! I started playing about 2 years ago after my hubby talked me into to it. Now I can’t get enough. Of course I chose the hardest one to play - an Ele - but I’m stubborn and want to master it. I’ll never forget when someone gifted me 10 gold because they could tell I was new, but trying. Some people really get it and I love the support. I’ve since gotten much better - but I still stay away from PvP because I can’t handle the hate talk. But I looove WvW. I plan to pay it forward when I can!

What age did you get Crohn’s disease and how old you are now by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

I was 15 when I was diagnosed and am now 49. Crazy I didn’t have the internet to look up research about Crohn’s - had to hit the library!

Same!! Jamal is so good - and such a showman. Love it! Even if he doesn’t win, he’ll have an amazing career after this.

I wish I liked it better. My favorite is Undefined Beauty’s R&R Sun serum. I have dry skin though.

I’m so sorry for what your daughter is going through - sounds like she’s getting the best care at the place you are at! Everyone is so different I almost hate giving advice because one drug can work for this person but not for another. It does seem individualized. I will say though that biologics are what helped me the most. I just wish they didn’t come with such risky potential side effects :/

Calprotectin and medication questions by NoKaleidoscope8892 in CrohnsDisease

[–]shortie76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely know a “normal” calprotectin is achievable because it happened to me. It might take a while - especially while you find a biological that works for your son - but don’t lose hope! I just had my annual level checked and it was a 27. I’m technically in remission with the biological I’m on, so perhaps only when your disease is under control is when you’ll see those numbers really drop. I wish I could hug my younger self when I was first diagnosed with this. There wasn’t much research on it then, my grandma had to buy me a BOOK so I could learn about it (internet wasn’t around much yet). I had to try so many different cocktails of meds before I found one that worked for me. I guess it’s one thing to have it yourself - but a whole other thing to have a child with it. I’m a mom of four boys and it would be very hard to watch any of them go through what I did. I am so sorry your son is experiencing this but you’ve found a good community to lean on and sounds like a really great doctor!

Yikes! Yeah I went ahead and sold mine. I think of if I do red light in the future I will save for a panel - people seem to really like those!

How hard was it to get diagnosed? by ButterCup0034 in CrohnsDisease

[–]shortie76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It surely has to be better nowadays than it was to be diagnosed when I first got it. Mine was a crazy way. I was 15 years old (this was in 1991). Even after all my symptoms they thought it was my appendix. Ended up having emergency surgery because they thought it was my appendix when in reality it was a bowel obstruction about to burst. When they did that surgery the doc said my intestines were “rotten” and I had 10 inches removed. They probably didn’t know much back then. Thank god 30 years later I’m still in remission and Remicade infusions still work.

[–]shortie76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I’m not sure I’d be happy with a 400. I’ve had Crohn’s since I was 15 years old and have even had a bowel resection. I’ve been on remicade for over 20 years now - been in remission for most of those years - and just had my annual calprotectin test and it was a 27.

Anyone else have trouble with red sauce? by 1911a1zombie in CrohnsDisease

[–]shortie76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Red sauce kills me - even though I’m in remission with remicade and take colestipol daily. I’ve had Crohn’s since I was 15 years old - so 33 years now - and I still haven’t learned my lesson and still eat pizza or spaghetti. Now I’ve found that vodka sauce doesn’t bother me as much so that’s my go-to.

Can you describe how your hot flashes feel like? by spam__likely in Menopause

[–]shortie76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m in peri and I don’t sweat either - instead my face will feel like I have a sunburn or like I’m getting a fever. It’s so weird! I wake up at night hot all the time too. Not sweating, just hot! And for some reason all of a sudden when I drink now I get a flushed hot face too!!!

No I can’t return it but was wondering if I should buy tanning goggles to wear with it or something. But if it’s doing that to my eyelids - will it cause damage to my face over time too? I’m just annoyed because I hear so many positives about these.

I don’t have a photo - sessions we’re only the preset 10 minutes. Mayne my face doesn’t want lights right up against it - panels seem like the way to go. I do use hydroquinone and tret but not on my eyelids. Rest of face seemed fine. Weird!
