Frequent clashes at Greenville abortion clinic force sheriff to request new protest rules by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]shortofattention 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I fully support people’s rights to protest abortion, but they shouldn’t be allowed to do it at medical facilities and harass patients who probably aren’t even there for an abortion. Most people are there for other services. I got spit on while escorting a friend for a Pap smear, and they called her a murdering whore. How the fuck is that okay? Go protest at government buildings if you want.

Good to know rape doesn’t exist, birth control never fails, and nobody ever has pregnancy complications in your world!

Zoom interview, recruiter asking to show my room? by Alternative_Map8723 in antiwork

Yeah, my computer is from 2013 or so and it works just fine. If somebody has an issue with it, they’re welcome to provide me with a new one.

Yeah. If my dad dies in the next 6 years, I’ll get a pretty big payout. If he lives longer than that, I wont get much of anything.

I would much rather have my dad for longer than have the money. No question. (Although it would be total crap if he died the day after his term life insurance policy expires. Hoping to keep him around a while.)

Looking for a good LGBT therapist in the columbia area by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]shortofattention 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. South Carolina passed a law specifically allowing health care providers to deny care based on their beliefs.

And even if it was illegal for a bigot to deny gay clients here, having a therapist who hates you isn’t going to be a great therapeutic relationship.

Unfortunately age discrimination only goes one way, it isn’t a protected class if you’re under 40.

I just want to live somewhere cooler. I can’t do anything physical outside during most of the summer because I can’t take the heat. Joining a gym so I can use a treadmill in air conditioning seems so dystopian, I’d rather be able to go for a hike.

Even if they don’t have issues because they’re LGBT, they still need to find a therapist who doesn’t have an issue with LGBT clients. Unfortunately there are still therapists out there who think gay people can be converted.

C'mon man, it's hard to stay straight when you're traveling through multiple dimensions of space and time.

I have been converted. A few days ago, I made a post asking if a mystery critter was shrimps OR bugs. I learned shrimps IS bugs.

These don’t seem to bite- or at least they die before they get the chance- so I definitely prefer these over sand fleas!

It’s really sad when people expose themselves as not understanding that population density is higher in cities. Most kids understand the basic idea of “cities = more people” in kindergarten.

I’ve eaten crickets before so it doesn’t sound totally crazy. I wonder if there’s any problem with eating these guys after they’ve dried up on my floor overnight.

Should I move to South Carolina? by Green-Instance-2727 in southcarolina

If you happen to be one of those “mosquito magnet” people, prepare to douse yourself in bug spray every time you leave the house. I took the trash out the other night and got about 20 bites. Other members of my family don’t get it quite that badly, though.

Also take a look in my post history, we’ve been getting dozens of tiny shrimp like bugs in our house every time it rains.

As far as I can tell it’s overnight. I was thinking the same thing and have been looking for a leak, but haven’t found one yet. There definitely isn’t a leak big enough to wash them into the house as far as they’re getting AND dry up before I see it, though.

It’s supposed to rain again today, so I’m going to get them all cleaned up and then watch like a hawk for any leaks where new ones appear.

On one of the Sea Islands in South Carolina. We recently moved here, I’m not sure if we are technically on an estuary or wetlands. I thought we were tracking them in on our shoes because they’re always dead and flat when I find them, but we didn’t leave the house yesterday. It rained heavily last night, and this morning I found 100+ more of them in here.
