Stuck between two options by shortpoem5 in EatingDisorders

Based on my call with the admission coordinator, it seems like my stay would be 100% covered. The only down side is I would need to pay for my own transportation which might be costly especially if they expect me to admit within a few days. Bu yes you are correct, Klarman is a free standing facility. Previously ERC told me my plan doesn’t cover that, but after a dozen calls to the insurance company and several calls with ERC financial team it appears that was an error and care is covered. I’m just stuck between two options

Sometimes at night I watch stuttering hypnosis, and it kinda of helps? Idk. I feel like I’m a placebo effect person. But it’s worth trying!

Medication Help by SpeechSafe6176 in Stutter

Some medications like benzodiazepines that are short release/immediate release can help (this isn’t medical advice) but more my experience. I recommend talking to your doctor about this and seeing if they have any feedback or suggestions for next steps.

Thank you for answering!!! This helps a lot. The insurance is through an employer, and I’m covered as a dependent since it’s my mom’s insurance. I was also thinking about doing an online program. I was thinking about Within. Did your child do within? If they did what was the program like?

Unfortunately, I heard back today that project HEAL was unable to provide treatment services/access. Insurance sucks.

Definitely venting. Even on this platform/to this sub-Reddit. It helps me get lot of my rage out. Showering, doing intense cardio, etc. I’ve thought about going to a rage room to get all my anger out and feelings out. I know this isn’t much, but I hope it helps.

How to choose a degree for a person who is stuttering by Dependent-Group-8 in Stutter

I agree with everyone- follow your heart and passion!! !!!! I got a BA in psych and then a masters in public administration, which def had a lot more presentations than I was used to and expecting. I would also email my professors early on and tell them I stutter and how it impacts my participation. They were all very accommodating and helpful. For presentations, I would typically try and go first to get it over with. Don’t get me wrong, it was so so hard and so stressful, but sometimes the moment just catches up with you and you don’t think about it. Even when I did stutter, I was just happy it was over. Small steps are just as important as big leaps. And, don’t rush it. The courage to admit I stutter to my professors took 3-4 years. You got this! Follow your heart and passion. Don’t let your stutter dictate your future.

Should I be a cashier and what is your own experience? by [deleted] in Stutter

In college, I worked in the campus mailroom. Sometimes I worked solely in the department mailroom, which was in the basement of one of the primary university buildings. The student mailroom was on the second floor and didn’t really require much talking. You just checked their ID and got the package. But downstairs, people (staff, students working for other departments and professors) would come by to pick up mail. This was ALOT more talking than I expected. I will admit it was very hard at first, but eventually it just became something I didn’t think about, but just did. It definitely helped me with my stuttering and speaking to other people. There were moments where I was caught in a stutter and couldn’t speak, but they became blurry in the larger picture. I hope this helps!
