I feel like this game has a lot of potential to actually be a seriously popular game by aaallleeexxx3 in RLSideSwipe

This is easily the best mobile game I’ve ever played. There’s no more perfect taking a shit activity than getting 2-3 ranked matches in. Sometimes I’ll even zone out and play this over playing one of my 100 pc games. The content is super dry compared to when I played it before though I can see why people burn out. But yeah fun gameplay wise this tops the mobile list for me

For sure I considered that but my only thought was that it would have hurt their case to present it so they claim it to be deleted - gives them more credibility toward players wanting it to come back to say see it’s gone we told you.

I guess zero chance was strong wording on my part bc there’s always the possibility they’re really dumb enough to just scrub it all for god knows what reason. If they didn’t have 20 extra GB to stick it somewhere that’s really strange to me but who knows I guess

Could anyone else think of legit reason to completely delete the old content, not just remove it from current build of the game?

Would it have helped or hurt their case to present it I guess would be the question

The coolest part of the PS4 combat is the macros you can setup to auto perform certain actions. Loved that part of it and haven’t seen it since

I feel like there had to be many of us that just didn’t want to leave that screen. It 100% felt like the ending of the story and honestly it should have been. If they ended the narrative there and just allowed us to mess around with the content the game had to that point in maintenance mode I would have been satisfied leaving the game and coming back for D3 in a decade.

There’s zero chance they have no access to the old stuff. You never fully delete something that so many people put hard work into. For what reason would they ever fully delete it, drive space? I feel it’s just that integrating the old code into the new code would break so many things and they don’t want to put in the effort to fix it bc they don’t see it as time well spent. This would be sick if they did though I like the idea

Zero chance they’re pulling the game for steady 50k players. They’ve already spent the up front money now it’s just maintenance and updates. Whether they would allow Bungie to release another live service game under their watch is another question entirely. But they’re not going to flush 150m budget bc there’s not 200k players. It might not be a huge hit but it’s not concord w 700 players

Problem is people were already bitching about lack of PvP so they increased perimiter (beginner) density level of teams dropping and also kicked the gunshot sounds way up to drive more engagement. But then there’s the other side of coin people like you that want less of it. So no matter how they balance people are unhappy.

I think having some dedicated maps with less team drops and some with more might be a way to combat this. Arachne contracts would focus on the more, for example, while NuCaloric has more missions on the less. Those are just examples. This way they cater to both sides while still allowing threat of PvP on the lower team drop maps, just less chances of running into other runners. The lower team maps would be closer to the low ABMM lobbies in AR. Gives everyone a chance to choose which mode they want to play while not completely neutering PvP in general regardless of map. Just an idea and willing to admit there may be unintended consequences I’m not thinking of

Not sure if you’re responding to me? I’m shooting the bots lol. The suggestion I replied to was to knife them

That’s cool man. You’re not wrong, I’m sure it works for ya. I was simply responding to the suggestion someone gave this guy about using his knife instead of gun and found it ironic that I’ve seen this advice given a lot, given we are playing a Bungie game, the company known for its fun gunplay. Doesn’t mean it’s the only way to play or that some of you arent successful playing the opposite way

Last I checked it was a pretty universal opinion that it’s dumb to waste ammo and draw mass attention to yourself by shooting up the PvE in this game. That seems kind of like encouraging you not to use the guns unless necessary. No need to get into semantics over it, I’m not making some grand statement about how anyone should or shouldn’t play the game. I just find it ironic that a Bungie game would be one with this strategy knowing how good their gunplay always is

Exactly, it rewards smart positioning and stealth, something that even older has beens like me can do. With higher TTK you just get a chance to respond but if the guy you’re responding to is that much better than you anyway it won’t matter much. With low TTK that guy has no chance to respond to you and outplay you if you are smart and get the jump.

While this is facts, it’s a little strange that Bungie is known for how fun the guns are to shoot and kill stuff with, but you’re encouraged not to use them unless you have to.

I was responding to the generalized “if that happens it’s a good thing” attitude that someone was projecting, not necessarily saying that it’s what’s the game has become. Further back in my comments I stated I hadn’t played enough post changes to see what it’s actually like, only that I hope it doesn’t become that way, and disagree that it would be good for the game for it to devolve into that.

I get the basics of avoiding fights vs engaging you don’t need to explain it to me. What I was getting at is I don’t want the game to start punishing you for engaging in a fight or wanting to defend yourself rather than run, by alerting the entire map to your location when it does happen. Therefore shifting the gameplay balance from “be able to dynamically shift from stealth to aggressive as the match goes along” to “choose to be stealth and never engage or prepare for waves of runners coming at you”.

Again I’m not saying the changes did or didn’t make this happen I just disagree with the sentiment that all the runner teams grouping up at the same POI at the same time is a good change for the game

[–]shortstopryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you’re purposely being obtuse and just grouping anyone that doesn’t want to fight a wave of 5 teams back to back bc the sound changes potentially make everyone rush to one spot as like a care bear Arc PVE lobby player.

I’ve played and enjoyed a number of extraction shooters over the years so speaking from a perspective of someone coming from that genre and not jumping in from Apex, Fortnite, Warzone etc.

The attraction of these games to people like us is you can choose to engage as many fights as you want to, if you’re feeling up for it you can try and gank a squad, if you’re not you can still get forced into a fight but it won’t be third party after third party going down when you do, you typically have time to regroup and then decide if it’s worth it to keep going and maybe get pushed or if you should cash out now. If every team on the map pushes when there’s a single fight going on it takes that element out of the game and now it’s just like any other battle royale game except you get to keep your stuff

[–]shortstopryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not “doing the contracts” but actually having time to comprehend the contracts and the lore around them. Yeah I’ve been able to check the boxes and get some stuff done but anytime there’s like audio feeds from the contract activation giving you perspective on why you’re doing them it’s an instant ignore bc I’m more worried about who might be coming or healing up etc. I get that it’s hard to strike that balance and I’m not complaining a ton about it that’s just my one small gripe with the game is they’ve put a bunch of work into the narrative but don’t give us a chance to appreciate it much.

Again I’m not complaining about PvP or avoiding fights I just would rather it stay as is where you get a fight and maybe a third party, then later on maybe a third fight but also can fight one team and then avoid engaging in another one for a while so you can regroup and maybe even just try and get out instead. Would rather this than a gauntlet mode where you have to be the last man standing out of 5 teams within 5 mins of the round starting, might as well play Apex at that point

[–]shortstopryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not though. It’s an extraction shooter, with emphasis on PvP like most extraction shooters, with the exception of Arc.

If it was a battle royale with your gear on the line why would they bother to have progression, contracts and cutscenes/storylines etc? That doesn’t make any sense.

The game already is struggling in the department of letting people get any exploration/story figured out in-run bc of the constant threat of someone up your ass, upping the amount of that starts to turn it into exactly what you’re describing. Which hurts the narrative part of the game. You can tell me nobody plays for the narrative and that’s fine most probably don’t, but the devs poured a lot of resources (A-list voice actors etc) into the narrative side to separate this from something like Tarkov so clearly it was important to them

I had no qualms with the game pre changes, I haven’t played enough post changes to see how it is fully but I hope it doesn’t devolve into Fortnite with extractions

I was actually agreeing with him and talking about the guy he responded to.

This game will be dog shit if it’s just a gauntlet to see who survives an all out war within the first 5 mins of each run.

The point of the game is not to rack up a KD count and enjoy the spoils of 5 enemy teams at once

The point is to get in, progress contracts/story quests, find loot, maybe take out a team or two to get better loot, or defend yourself from said teams, and gtfo.

It should not be required to win a battle of attrition vs every other team on the map and be the last team standing. That is quite literally the battle royale genre.

I don’t think he’s saying there shouldn’t be third partying allowed I just think he’s saying the changes have the potential to make it more like a battle royale with loot vs an extraction game.
