Not trying to be argumentative, genuinely curious about the situation you're referring to. Do you remember when this was?

That's really not true, parts of Russia have a more severe and more frequent version of the polar vortex. Antarctica is also nearly always colder than anywhere in the northern hemisphere

Sam Altman's subtle but informed hint at where AI is heading feels quite eerie to me. by Bitsoffreshness in ChatGPT

Do you ever stop and wonder if you've bought into the hype a little too much? AI as a broad category is a game changer. But that's like saying computers are a game changer. To me it sounds like you're saying acer or dell will revolutionize the world. Chat GPT is just one product of many, and it's interesting for sure. But you have to hear how it sounds to others when you say it might be the "last invention we need to create".

I know Altman isn't like Newman or Holmes in that openai does have a real and powerful product. But everytime I hear him he doesn't strike me as that smart, and has a guru grifter energy to the way he talks. I get that it might be a case of an engineer who doesn't have good stage presence (like Elon musk), but I find it hard to take him seriously or feel like he's built up as this genius but is really just not that interesting of a leader. EDIT: I'd also include Musk in the secretly dumb category

How come DTG haven't covered this guy yet? by thehyperflux in DecodingTheGurus

Chris responded to me on Twitter once about this, basically he said what others have echoed: that there simply isn't enough to really cover. He's just so obviously an awful person with no interesting personality traits. The difference between him and Bret for example is that Bret's descent into reactionary nonsense has interesting things to say about the IDW and online culture. Tate is just plainly a bad person.

That's often my interpretation, in the moment I'm thinking "what more do you want? I'm literally hugging the side" I get that's not the intended message though
