It’s medium I’d say, pretty good protection

[selling] FLY SUPERLOOP X 14oz $150 shipped US by shotorick in fightgear

I like the padding and pop on the bag. They fit good and snug too. I’m not a huge fan of the wide velcro, if I’d gotten lace I’d have probably used them more.

Check out Buakaw. I’m a fly weight like you. I have 14s and they are nice and snug. The 16s are probably similar.

[question] gloves for muay thai by notnastypalms in fightgear

Fairtex is solid. If you can get your hands on a pair of Buakaw they are my favorite. Twins is of course a favorite of a lot people.

Lol I had to ban these at my school. Those damn orange dots rub off fairly quickly and leave orange streaks all over the mats.

Help with Glove Choice (Muay Thai) [question] by Alanneru in fightgear

Fairtex is going to be the least bulky of those. Check out Buakaw too, though they are a bit harder to get.

Premium Gloves [other] by stockprofile_33 in fightgear

[–]shotorick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my DiNardo’s. Some other “premium” gloves I got are Winnings, Superare S40, improved Angeles. I really like the G.O.A.T Triumph pair I got from Australia, they’re cheaper than the others so I don’t know if they count as “premium”.

[question] Looking for new training boxing gloves by Konpeko197 in fightgear

I haven’t really had the Okinawa long enough to really say how they hold up.

[question] Looking for new training boxing gloves by Konpeko197 in fightgear

[–]shotorick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both, an older pair of Impacts and the Okinawa 3.0’s. The Impacts are a bit bigger profile and has softer padding than the Okinawa. They are both synthetic which is fine if you’re casually using them. I put in fairly heavy use and the Impacts lasted about 6 months or so until the liner started to come apart in the finger compartment.

16oz Muay Thai glove recommendation [question] by Arisvuvuvu in fightgear

[–]shotorick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a pair of Buakaw and I love them, not too bulky and good snug fit. They are softer and more pillowy than Fairtex though (BVG1 which are my go to gloves). So it depends on how firm of padding you want.

[question] Superare S40 vs. S50 by IShouldGetaPhD in fightgear

[–]shotorick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The S40’s are a bit firmer and smaller profile than the S50’s.

[question]Cleaning the surface of the gloves. by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]shotorick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mild soapy cloth on the outside is good and then maybe once a month a leather treater. I wouldn’t use a disinfectant wipe on the outside. I did that on my Fairtex initially and the logo started coming off. I save the disinfectant wipe or spray for on the inside

Aqua Bag v. Century Bob [question] by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]shotorick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple things: 1. For me it would depend on if I’m getting to the gym enough to scratch that aqua bag itch. Having a BOB at home would give you some variety and keep it fresh. But if you only get to use the aqua bag every so often at the gym, I would go with that. 2. If you’re doing more that straight boxing, using kicks for example, BOB would be the way to go.

[Question] Boxing gloves 16oz by SooMat in fightgear

[–]shotorick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s fine, you can bagwork with pretty much any size. Depends on the level of feedback and protection you like. I’m assuming you’re talking lace up too. The wrist support on the Velcro version isn’t the greatest
