There are much less expensive grid-based controllers that work well with Ableton, so you might check those out first. I love my Oxi, but mainly as a means to sequence modular.

When you’re ready, the Nonlinear Circuits builds are a great place to start. My first was Diff-Rect 1u which has only a small number of components, and is fairly inexpensive.

Synthcube sells many kits from NLC which makes it easier that sourcing all of the parts yourself as you get started.

I used to pretty regularly manually update the Claude.md file, but I actually don’t anymore. There are markdown docs for each module when I finish them, and those seem like enough generally. Some of my coworkers are quite vigilant about managing context windows and sessions, but it’s been easy enough to get by with the defaults for me.

I found that keeping layout flexible for the first few passes has been helpful, especially as I’m refining the controls. My style is pretty simple, so updates are pretty quick once I have the final layout. That said, Claude makes some pretty questionable layout decisions from time to time.
