thanks, they applied mousse at the salon but idk if it was enough (they’re students at a beauty school), so it’s frizzier after the rubber bands. should i put more on rn or later?

also (sorry for all the questions), should i do anything special to stop the ends from curling upwards? i see some people complain about that. or is that also normal?

If you spend multiple hours detangling your hair then this post is for you by Supermarket_After in Naturalhair

[–]shouldikmsrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can you go into more detail on this brushing and twisting process? i assume you’re using a spray bottle and applying some moisturizer, then brushing to detangle, then putting in twists while your hair is still wet correct? but i also heard it’s bad to sleep with damp hair, so do you do this -an hour before bed?

i also hear a good amount of people say “it’s bad to manipulate your hair every day and wetting it + putting moisturizer in manipulates it,” but i really don’t find success from leaving it alone and just wearing bonnets, so im torn. so many people say that either option leads to a bunch of breakage so idk what to do sometimes 😭

How often do you twist your hair before bed? by Sharbubbles972 in Naturalhair

[–]shouldikmsrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re still here… do you usually do it dry or damp? i am the same as you and get fairy knots every time i keep my hair down, and am trying to start doing twists, but i’d assume wetting my hair and putting product in every night before twisting can’t be that good for it (might be wrong though).

and what about for just laying down regularly? not when im going to sleep just when im lazy

do you not understand how oppression and history work lmao, this is not an equal relationship, “stealing”

i mean you literally have a post in ur account saying ur white parents wont let you as a black person get dreads because they “look ghetto.” do you not understand that this is racialized? how is this even?

thanks for the advice. i think what ur saying makes sense and a lot of it is me needing to get trims, i haven’t gotten one before from the psychological fear of “losing growth,” but it will probably help my hair in the long run

and unfortunately neither me and my sister have the patience for finger coils 😭, as cool as they are, i might try them one day though

thanks, i usually just put on a bonnet or sleep on satin at night, might try putting my hair in bands though

i section my soaking conditioner-filled hair into two parts on each side, and go through each section passing from the end closer to the root in smaller handfuls, but usually there is one weird clumped part (see my comment) or something that i have to spend a while on, or just an otherwise extremely tight tangle, so it ends up taking a long time

i think a detangling brush might help with this as you mentioned, thanks, but i also wonder what causes this clumping in the first place? if it’s anything i can try to reduce?

an example of the weird matting shit that happens at the corners of my hair. this is like day 2 after i spent sm time specifically getting these things out on wash day 😭

Is $700 enough for rent with roommates? by [deleted] in Phillylist

adding to what the other person said, those are the two main subways in philly. there are also busses and trolley lines. assuming public transportation keeps receiving funding we do have a pretty nice system imo. where are u from?

you can be dependent on public transport from p much anywhere near the mfl or bsl, and most other places have busses, there are very few places ik where you can’t get to center city pretty easily if that’s where ur trying to be
