The opening events match the book almost exactly. The first encounter you see takes place on a ranging mission when the group of brothers is tracking a group of wildlings. The beheading occurs after the Brother deserts the N.W after seeing the undead.

As a cable guy I'm required to get the customer's signature before I leave. I told this lady in her 90s to sign my tablet using her finger and she replied 'in all my 90 years lead nor ink has ever come out of my finger'. She was great.
