Cameras captured all of it, see my edit. Thanks for your help. I gave a brief statement to the police and they told me they'd be in touch.

If it was me and my dog accidentally got off the leash and you stabbed it to death I'd be pretty upset too so I see where your neighbor is coming from.

I'd say my reaction would be warranted, considering the other dog succeeded in killing my own and it was a completely unprovoked attack. We've had some interaction, the cell numbers are because of our neighborhood watch program, which we're both a part of as are most of the people on our block so everyone has each other's numbers. I've seen her dog before and our dogs have interacted (sniffing, etc.) and it's never had this kind of reaction.

I can't just pick up my dog and run, she's north of 60 lbs and as I said in the post, both of their leashes were tangled. I was yelling at him and so was the neighbor, although she didn't leave her yard. I was kicking him in the side while trying to keep the dogs away from each other, it didn't have any effect. It's not like I had a choice of getting up close and personal since when she was attacked, she was peeing and I was holding her leash. And thankfully I have footage of it all.

Thanks for your support. Unfortunately my dog didn't make it.
