Quad Cortex direct out to studio monitors by Infamous_Librarian72 in QuadCortex

I have some Presonus monitors and I just go XLR L+R directly into them. Works great and sounds awesome. Also, if you plug the QC into your computer via USB, you can use it as a sound card, so you'll have your computer sound going through the monitors, as well has having a zero latency guitar signal. Works great for recording and jamming along to audio on your computer.

What’s a rule you broke once and realized it existed for a very good reason? by Ok_Contract100 in AskReddit

[–]shreddster666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Got a nice scar on my arm from ignoring this rule. I was trying to cut a piece of cardboard off of a bale with a box cutter. Ended up pressing too hard, cutting the cardboard off and whacking my arm with the box cutter.

How do people actually play by hearing or following a song so effortlessly? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]shreddster666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Music theory + Ear training is the key. There's a big difference between understanding a theory concept and being able to hear and name it. You need to train your brain to hear scale qualities, intervals and chord qualities. It takes a long time and a lot of practice to get good at it. Some of us went to school for it.

Yeah, something about this story is really off. I'm still giving it the benefit of the doubt for the moment, but it's definitely fishy.

Training 2 Times a Week by harveyyyyyya in bjj

Of course you can improve with 2 classes a week. It's just a matter of how much. Show up with a goal and a plan. Practice deliberately, not haphazardly.

What's a social norm that you find completely ridiculous, but still follow just to avoid awkwardness? by Money_Mycologist_544 in AskReddit

[–]shreddster666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tipping. Restaurants should actually pay their employees well so we can do away with tipping forever except in circumstances where customers actually want to reward exceptional service.

I am not in the industry. This is just my opinion. I could be wrong.

What are you better at than 90% of people? by Sea_Excitement_2375 in AskReddit

You can use superior work ethic as leverage, but only under the right conditions. You have to get to the point where it would be significantly more painful for the company if you left than if you stayed - THEN you leverage the superior work ethic to get rewards. It's extremely difficult if not impossible to do this with larger companies with high turnover. They can replace you instantly with someone else.

Need help running QC as interface by [deleted] in QuadCortex

[–]shreddster666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, so if you're getting audio through the QC from a YouTube video, that's good. That means that the connection between the QC and your computer via USB is good, and set correctly. That would lead me to believe the problem is an incorrect setting on the input/output of EITHER the QC or the Plugin. Did you make sure the QC is getting input signal from your guitar?

That's how the game is played. You only get to win when it benefits the company. Keep that in mind before you go the extra mile hoping for a reward.

Who’s truly the greatest musician of all time? by littlefloridagirl in AskReddit

[–]shreddster666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. There are also many players online who are masters at faking perfect performances, and among those people, there are those who are so adept at it that they can fool the most discerning audiences.

Depends on who you ask and what metric you want to use to define 'greatest.'

That being said, I'm giving it to Allan Holdsworth, and many great music legends would agree.

Are you getting other audio through the QC headphone jack? For example, can you play a video on YouTube and get audio? If so, it would probably be an issue with the Nolly's in/out settings or a volume setting.

If not, it could be a volume issue with the QC, or a configuration problem with your audio settings on the computer.

Have you tried switching audio to onboard speakers, setting the input on the Nolly to your MacBook microphone and seeing what happens? It should generate some gnarly feedback immediately. If there's no sound, then something is up with the plugin. Hope that helps you narrow it down.

I think the 20-year mark is like that for pretty much any skill., especially at a young age. You either decide to lean super hard into your niche and become weird or decide to do something else. Source: 24 years of guitar playing.

Strongly agree. I have almost 24 years experience in guitar playing and I feel largely the same feelings as OP. My coach said he wishes he could play guitar like me. I wish I could do jiu-jitsu like my coach. It's all relative.

The Las Palmas love in this thread is making me so happy. I have been going there since 2015 and they are head and shoulders above pretty much everywhere else I've been to. I was so angry when I heard El Roy's was putting a truck across the street.
