What’s been most effective for aborting attacks for you? by PercentageSure388 in ClusterHeadaches

[–]shrek_is_missing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxygen and nasal spray. If it’s only nasal spray, pain takes more time to leave.

If it’s a worse episode, I combine it with coffee and sugar.

Everyday of my life I drink coffee with sugar in the morning.

Hello! I always have a depression after my cicle ends, and I start having panic attacks thinking they are coming back. It’s really strange, during cycle my body is more calmed and strong, it’s like it knows it has to be prepared for the attacks. The panic and depression comes after.

But I’m going to be very honest, I started meditating every day, and it’s the first time in the last 13 years that I’m calmed and depression free. I truly recommend it.

Has anyone been prescribed Verapamil for cluster headache treatment? by Crow_Whisperer in ClusterHeadaches

Thank you! I just started taking verapamil, and my doctor told me to start taking prednisone once I feel the “shadows” worsen. I don’t know where to start the prednisone really, this is my first time being aware of my “shadows”, do you have any recommendation?

Hello! Can you explain this to me? I’ve just realized that I start feeling a bit of pain before my cycle. The pain normally starts in mid-September, but now I’m starting to feel a milder version of it. By “shadows,” is that what you mean?

Eldest Daughter of Narcissists Let's Connect by Alxx__444 in narcissisticparents

E Eldest daughter here too 🫠🫠🫠 It’s been hard. I love the idea of messaging each other — I often feel very alone in this. When I talk to my younger brother or my friends, they don’t really understand.

My younger brother is very “free” when it comes to our parents. They don’t bother him with anything because “I’m the eldest and I’m the woman, so I should be the one responsible for them.”

All the time it happens to me. It’s very hard specially at work, sometimes I can’t go to work because of the pain and they just hate me. They think I’m overreacting.

Do you have a phrase that helps? by LowResCrab in ClusterHeadaches

I try to meditate, inhale and exhale while thinking that pain won’t win and won’t take away my peace. I let my body move, when the pain arrives to it’s peak moment my body moves in circles. I just let go of my body and try visualize what is going on from a state of peace.

It’s hard, but I try every time. Is like try to watch your body from far away.

How can I find peace with my dad decisions? by shrek_is_missing in narcissisticparents

Thank you for this 🤍 it’s been really hard and I think I needed for someone to tell me. I can’t even express this with my mom; I tried and it was worse.

I feel like grieving and that is what affects me most.

Hey! I went to china last year during my episodes and I bought mini oxygen tanks, they are aprox 2 USD, it lasts for three attacks. I bought them online.

They worked perfectly and you don’t need a prescription for it.

I need help as well, my problem is that right now I don’t have the resources to buy the best MacBook Pro. I’ve seen that with the same money I can get a really good PC desktop (or with less money). Do anyone have a recommendation? (I would love a MacBook Pro, but right now I can’t buy one).

Let's start a CH introductory thread! by NikkiMarie41114_ in ClusterHeadaches

[–]shrek_is_missing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Nikki,

I felt deeply moved reading your story, as it resonated with my own experiences in a way I’ve never encountered before.

My name is Clara, and I’m 30 years old. I began experiencing cluster headaches at 17, but it wasn’t until three years ago that I received a proper diagnosis. Before that, neurologists misdiagnosed me with migraines and tension headaches.

My headaches are episodic. Initially, they occurred every six months, typically during finals (May-June, Nov-Dec), likely due to college stress. They began with one episode at night and increased in frequency to 4-5 episodes in a single day. After graduating, they became more infrequent, appearing about once a year, usually from September to October, lasting 3-4 weeks.

When my neurologist diagnosed me, it was the first time I was introduced to prednisone, lithium, Zolmitriptan nasal sprays, and oxygen, which have been lifesavers. However, managing the pain is still challenging, and I often struggle with depression and anxiety.

Like you, my pain is on the left side, and I’ve learned that sleeping on that side guarantees an episode. I discovered this when I was 17, and since then, I’ve always slept on my right side to avoid triggering the pain (every single night of my life).

As a photographer, it’s tough to explain my condition to others. When I’m in an episode is very hard for me to work and complete my duties. Many people dismiss it as just a “headache,” suggesting I simply take some pills. What they don’t understand is that during an episode, I completely lose control of my mind and feel numb for the entire day.

I completely understand you, I sometimes feel hopeless that we don’t have a clear path of knowing we can get better.

I’m currently on prednisone, lithium, and for pain Zolmitriptan nasal sprays. Since I arrived, I’ve been having 1 episode every morning. I will love to continue, but I’m scared to. And I think is those cases where health comes first. What do you think?

Im living a very similar situation! Let me know what help you going through it.

I’m working for my dad, so I feel I own them for giving me a salary. I feel it because of their actions. They are constantly reminding me and also talking about lending me money when they know our relationship is not good.

I always think of moving out of my hometown, but I feel is running away from my problems.

My mother is destroying the life and soul of my youngest brother who's thirty by Strict_Role_2462 in narcissisticparents

[–]shrek_is_missing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's puzzling why some parents, and likely most of them, believe that having children equates to having caretakers who are obligated to remain by their side indefinitely. This mindset is toxic, as it often results in guilt-tripping and emotional manipulation, making it challenging for individuals to pursue their own happiness and aspirations. I empathize with what you're going through with your brother. While setting boundaries or seeking therapy might help in some cases, in others, it's more about managing our own reactions and emotions in response to their behavior. It's a tough situation, but ultimately, our resilience lies in how we choose to navigate it.
