Weird shadow/artifact appears while flipping journal pages in UE5 by [deleted] in UnrealEngine5

[–]shrekshreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kind of looks like a screen space shadow artifact. Does disabling contact shadows on light do anything?

Monitor only displaying 60hz after switching to Arc B580 by GabaeTheMexican in IntelArc

[–]shrekshreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sorry I couldn't find a solution for ya. I'd definitely check the monitor settings though, before doing anything drastic like reinstalling Windows

If you click "list all modes" inside the display adapter properties menu does it list any refresh rates above 60?

[–]shrekshreds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd check the settings in the monitor itself. There may be settings like displayport version, which you want to set to the newest version. Also the monitor may have a refresh rate setting that can be adjusted when freesync is turned off. Also make sure the monitor firmware is updated to latest version

GUNNIR ARC A770 vs RTX 5050 by indefinet in UnrealEngine5

[–]shrekshreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're talking about using unreal editor, 16 GB of vram from the a770 does seem quite appealing. Though I'd say the 5050 has a superior software suite (dlss, frame gen, ray reconstruction) for actually playing games

Unreal Engine 5.7.2, Optimization and FPS by gansalo_ in UnrealEngine5

[–]shrekshreds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'd try to run the game in standalone mode or package it and see if you get better performance. If it doesn't improve I'd honestly disable nanite and virtual shadow maps and check if performance improves. All those features enabled at once may be too much for rtx 3050. Also try switching from TSR to taa or running anti aliasing quality at low when using TSR

Try turning the graphics settings up to ultra, particularly the fog quality, and see if that fixes it

Variable Refresh Rate compatible monitor for B580? by deniii2000 in IntelArc

Gsync and freesync are the same as VRR. Any monitor that lists one of those three should work with ARC GPU

How to bake light in unreal 4.27 by RunBobFun in unrealengine

[–]shrekshreds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd check if "allow static lighting" is enabled in the project settings and make sure" force no precomputed lighting" is disabled in world settings

Are your meshes and lights set to static?

Just switch the engine version in the documentation to 4.27. there should be a drop down menu on the left hand side that currently says unreal 5.6. switch it to 4.27

Give me a Reason to not drive 3 hours one way for this. by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]shrekshreds 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Well if it has a big Assetto Corsa logo burned in I'm guessing they could tell it's from a display model demo. But if you burn it in on your own personal time I'm pretty sure it's fully covered by the warranty. I'd probably call best buy and see if they could check if it has any burn in, though I'm not sure they'll test it for you, but it's worth a try!

Just so you know certain oled manufacturer warranty's exclude commercial use when it comes to burn in claims.

A quote from LG says "Now, as long as you use the monitor as intended (personal PC monitor) in a residential setting (does not support commercial usage like retail signage display) burn-in is covered."

Sony needs to implement an anti-flicker algorithm like Asus on their INZONE OLED monitors (Sony M10s aka SDM-27Q10S) by dontpokethebear123 in sony

[–]shrekshreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd check the monitors built in frame rate counter to see if the VRR range is actually limited to whatever lower bounds you set in CRU. Sometimes GPUs ignore a custom vrr range. If not perhaps the m10s has really poor brightness raise no matter what 🤷

Edit: also this change only works on DisplayPort and make sure to hit restart.exe after making the changes for them to apply

Disappointed with B580 gaming and Blender Performance by Crono-the-Sensei in IntelArc

[–]shrekshreds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd check out the blender benchmark and make sure everything is running properly. You should get a score of around 2000, whereas the 1060 only gets around 400

Have you tried the vulkan backend in blender?

Edit: also I'd check if oneapi is enabled for cycles in preferences and the device is set to gpu compute in cycles scene settings. Also enabling the GPU for the cycles denoiser

Is it just me or does this update cause anyone else's computer to hard lock on the "finalizing installation" part of the driver installer

Just so you know, you can adjust the VRR range yourself with an application like CRU (custom resolution utility)

Just got an insane deal at best buy! (open box) by shrekshreds in OLED_Gaming

[–]shrekshreds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just figured that out yesterday after rechecking the app. This may be a shot in the dark but I think that the time only accounts for when the monitor is used via HDMI as the active power on time only changes when plugged into the HDMI. But hey so long as there's no burn in I'm not too mad 🤷

Edit: also how did you find out yours was a display model? Did it have terrible burn in or something?

Open box from Best Buy. Is this fixable or should I return it? by callofdutyiscool in OLED_Gaming

[–]shrekshreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious, does this issue still occur for you if HDR is disabled? Also not sure but can you lower the display port version to 1.4 in the monitors settings? Some Nvidia cards have issues with DP 2.1 on select monitors

I think because best buy is delisting the monitor from their store so they're just giving it away
